Last week I went into the Kruger and after years of exploring the park and countless game drives, I finally had the privilege of witnessing one of the rarest and most mystical creatures of the bush : the white lion. Unlike albino lions, these magnificent animals owe their unique coat to a rare recessive gene, making sightings incredibly uncommon in the wild. Meeting the Birmingham pride was a dream of mine and I was lucky enough to see the 22 members including the white lioness and her cub. Their well-fed bodies were in excellent condition, and they were still panting from their full bellies.
