一段盖德wc赛前的采访了,但是可以看出他当时的信心 Going into the World Badminton Championships held in Los Angeles this week, Peter Gade tries to put his career as one of the world's top badminton players in perspective.'My world will not collapse if I don't win the World Championship. In 2001, I was a bit hard on myself but this time it won't be a catastrophe. A great deal has happened for me both on and off the court. In the end, I would be just as happy as before,' Gade said, who can list becoming a father to a little girl as one of the changes he experienced last year.Ten years onIt has been ten years since Peter Gade debuted at the World Championship in Switzerland in 1995 only to be eliminated in the third round by Sweden's Jens Olsson. Since then, there have been both triumphs and defeats for Peter Gade.'I think about things a great deal, and sometimes I wish I was the type who didn't think so much. Managing some of the dreams I have had since I was young can be difficult,' said Gade. When he takes the court at Arrowhead Pond in Los Angeles this week, Gade admits his level of ambitions will be just as high as when he started 10 years ago.'I am just as hungry as when I was at the World Championships in Switzerland. Apart from my family, badminton is the most important thing in life for me. I take it just as seriously and put my heart 100 percent into it,' said Gade.Still hungryThere has never been a doubt that Gade is passionate about his sport. He brings self-confidence and optimism to his matches, just as when he showed up for the World Championships two years ago in Birmingham with his eyes on the gold but saw himself eliminated in the first round. That defeat happened just as he had returned to the elite realm of the sport after a serious knee injury threatened to put a stop to his career.Since then, Gade has fought to stabilise his form at the top, and he has come close in several tournaments. Although he is seeded number three worldwide, he has yet to knock off his strongest competitors: Lin Dan of China and Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat from Indonesia, who have also been noted as favourites at the World Championship in Los Angeles. In the past two tournaments in East Asia, Peter Gade stressed the two top players to their maximum, however, and he hopes that he can pull the longest straw in the upcoming competition in Los Angeles. Here he will meet Lin Dan in the semi-final and Taufik Hidayat in the final.'It's not good enough to play a great match in the semi-final and then lose. I want to win. I've won bronze and silver, and now it has to be gold,' said Gade, who was close to taking the gold in Seville in 2001, but saw himself lose out to Hendrawan of Indonesia in the final.Poised for victoryThe defeat in Seville was a difficult one for Gade to swallow, and since then, he has worked on mental aspects of his game with sports psychologist Jens Hansen. Gade feels that now he has the right foundation to reach his coveted goal of becoming the World Champion.'It is all about finding balance - a combination of a number of things I have to optimise. I have to be ready for all types of situations and try to find my luck. I have to find my playing style and form, and mentally I have to have a good day, because so much depends on having self-confidence on the court,' he said.
