peter ends the Team Attack After a year of considering the possible future for Team Attack, Peter has now put the project to an end. On Sunday the 29th Peter held a gathering with all the TA-players and their parents and informed them about his decision to end the project. "t’s been a fantastic journey for me to lead on the Team Attack project for the last five years. Both on and off the court it’s been a learning experince for myself and the players. We’ve done things in this project that have never been done before in with young players in the game of badminton. Especially the two week long training camp in Malaysia in September 2004 was a great experience and I’ll always look back to that trip with great joy". Sad - but the right time to do it "In a way – I’m a bit sad about ending the project. But I think this is the right time to do it. I would like to spend more time with my family and concentrate 100 percent on making the best possible results for the last 2½ years of my own career. That’s the main reasons for ending the project. This project has shown to me that I’m going to be a coach in some way once I stop playing. I love this game and the possibility to pass on the experience I’ve build up for the last 23 years being in the game. It’s been a real pleasure working together with the players and coaches involved in Team-Attack. For now I’ll concentrate on my family and doing the best I can for the remaining years of my own badminton-career.”
BIRMINGHAM: Former world No 1 Peter Gade has launched a scathing attack on the new scoring system which is about to start on the world circuit. The International Badminton Federation (IBF) recently decided to adopt point-per-rally 21-up scoring, which will be introduced soon after this week’s All-England Open championships here have finished. The IBF believes this system will be easier to understand than the traditional hand-in hand-out 15-up scoring for all events except women’s singles (11-up), which has been the norm since organised badminton began more than a century ago.But there appears to be plenty of dissent against 21-up scoring, and Gade, who will be trying to regain the All-England title this week, feels the same way."I don’t think the IBF will like the new system," he asserted. "It is very clear to me that this is a political matter."Table tennis had this scoring for 50 years. They changed from this (to 11-up) with great success but those running badminton, they look at it, and say ‘we want your old system and we think it will do good"."I can’t see any reason for doing that. We had an opportunity to vote for a more intense and exciting game. It has been exciting only from about 10-all or 11-all and now, moving to 21, but it will become even worse."I think this is political, because Asia dismissed the five games to seven-up system and have regretted it, but won’t go back to it again. Five to seven is best for badminton and I really wish it would be part of the future." – AFP
"All-England Championships - my next priority" 25.11.2005Just after arriving home from the far east, Peter and fellow members of Team Aarhus took on Horsens BK in the Danish League. The result was a 4-2 victory to Team Aarhus and Peter showed his pleasure after the match: "We are very happy with this win. It's been a really good day for us. We played in front of 800 home spectators and I think our young players made a real a breakthrough in their performance. We all showed that there's a lot of potential for the future in the team and the project of Team Aarhus. If we can beat Lillerød BK in the next match, we have a good chance of reaching the Play-off stage". The main goal for Peter now is to prepare for the All-England Championships. "I am pleased with the way I played at the China and Hong Kong Opens where I came very close to beating Lin Dan and Chen Hong. I think I deserved to win at least one of them. I will continue to work hard on winning matches like these and I hope that I have a bit more luck in the new year and maybe go on to win some of the big tournaments", Peter explained. No World-Cup for Peter Meanwhile Peter has decided not to take part in the "World Cup" in China, preferring to stay at home and get ready for the upcoming tournaments. "There are no world-ranking points on offer at Hunan and I would rather use the time to prepare, especially for the All-England. Furthermore I will take part in the Copenhagen Masters at the end of December - it's a perfect test of form for me".
Peter Gade is Ambassador for "Save the Children" Peter Gade is Ambassador for "Save the Children"05.11.2005Dignity. Self-Respect. Hope. For all Children. Those are the visions of Save the Children. For 60 years, Save the Children has struggled for children’s rights all over the world Peter Gade is one of Save the Children’s 11 Ambassadors who are carrying out a support collection for Save the Children’s five key issues. The five key issues are to support: - the struggle against sexual abuse and trafficking - the work for vulnerable children in Denmark and Greenland - the struggle against poverty and HIV/aids - the struggle against child labour - the education of children in wars and disasters Peter Gade has chosen to be the Ambassador for the struggle against child labour, and has the following statement: Every single child born today has the right to have a childhood. A childhood based on important elements like playing, security and education. Unfortunately, real life is not at all like that. Many places in the world children are being forced to work hard every single day to provide food for themselves and their family. Support Peter Gade’s collection. Click here The Struggle against Child Labour Save the Children work for Abolition of hazardous Child Labour Children love to look after the shop, when it is for fun. For 250 million children work is not a game. They are working hard in the fields, in the streets and in factories. Every single day. When the children are taking on their working clothes, the family is able to have two meals a day instead of one. Child labour is highly connected with poverty. In cooperation with local children’s right organisations, Save the Children establishes schools where child workers receive classes in general school subjects and learn about their rights. Later, transfer of the children will take place to the ordinary, often public schools. Today, 104 million children do not go to school. Save the Children talks with parents and employees about the consequences of child labour. The message is always the same: Children must be removed from hazardous work. Children have to go to school. The child workers also receive support to organise themselves and fight for better conditions. Furthermore, Save the Children puts pressure on the governments to make them introduce laws that respect the rights of the children – and fight against poverty. Children have a Right not to have hazardous Work Child labour is all sorts of work, which is hazardous to child health and prevents them from going to school. The United Nations’ Child Rights Convention ascertains that those kinds of work should not be carried out by children. On the other hand, children will carry out a piece of work provided it is not hazardous. Actually, it is a necessity that children are working, if they are born into one of the world’s much too many poor families. About Save the Children Children have Rights Save the Children bases all its work on the United Nations’ Child Convention. It states that children are individuals who have a special need for care, development and protection – and that children have a right to have influence on their own lives. Save the Children aims at A world that respects children A world that listens to children and learns A world where all children have hopes and dreams Save the Children Denmark is part of Save the Children Alliance – the biggest independent child organisation in the world. Save the Children fights for children’s rights and give acute and long-term help to vulnerable children all over the world.
