For almost two hours they were fighting for the ticket through to the semifinals but in the end it was the World No. 1 who came out on top, winning 16-17, 15-13 and 12-15. "I felt really good today and I did almost everything right during the game. It's disappointing that I did not win the first set considering that I had some setpoints against Lin Dan. He is such a physically strong player and always tough to play. I really needed luck on those points in the first game. I really should have won the match. So for me the match with Værløse was a good test before the tournaments in Hong Kong and China." Ready for Hong Kong and China Open On Monday Peter and his Danish team mates will be on the way to Asia to compete in two big tournaments in Hong Kong and China. Peter has to play Jai Lin Tsai of Taipei in the second round of the Sunrise HK Open. If he wins that match then a possible meeting with Lee Hyun Il of Korea is expected. "I won my previous matches with Lee Hyun Il and as I'm feeling alright I believe I have a good chance of beating some top players in the strong field". To reach the semi-finals Peter would have to play Lee Chong Wei or Taufik Hidayat and Lin Dan. It`s far from being a comfortable draw.

"The last few weeks since the World Championships have been hard, having travelled to China and started the Danish League matches for Aarhus. I feel a bit tired at the moment and I still need to recover one hundred percent. I don't want to push it right now as it's very important for me to be well prepared for the Denmark Open and the following tournaments in Hong Kong and China. I would have loved to go to Indonesia but this is the right decision for me right now", Peter explained.

Peter won against Kenneth but Aarhus lost 13.09.2005Yesterday evening, in the latest match of the Danish League, Peter`s Team-Aarhus played against Greve Badminton Klub. The fixture lived up to expectations and the mens singles in particular was a real classic between Peter and Kenneth Jonassen, the current world No. 2. After some difficulties in the first set which Peter lost, he became more used to the conditions in the hall and dominated the second and third sets. The final score being 9-15, 15-6, 15-9. "We got a perfect start to the match, leading 2-0 but then the tide turned and all the other games went to Greve. Despite our young team, we came very close to getting a draw against Greve BK who are one of the big favourites to win the title this year. We are satisfied with our performance and hopefully next time with a bit of luck we can come away from the match with at least one point", Peter explained.

Peter`s Team-Aarhus kicks off a new season The 2005-2006 Danish badminton season has just started and as you know Peter had changed clubs, from Gentofte BK to Team Aarhus. In their opening match Aarhus played against Skælskør and it turned out to be a very close fight for the first points of the season. Peter played the first mens singles and had no problems against Kasper Fangel. At the end of the match however the score was even at 3-3. "It was a good start for our team but we have to be satisfied with that one point", Peter explained . "It was really good to see the young players in action - you can clearly see the influence of our coach, Morten Frost on their performance. Our next match is on Monday against Greve in which I'll play against Kenneth Jonassen."
