Atletico de Madrid is ready to travel to AmsterdamThe expedition of Atletico de Madrid is ready to get started on Tuesday 31 July for the second stage of the pre-season. On Tuesday, the squad managed by Javier Aguirre will take a flight at 12:50 with Amsterdam as their destination to play in the prestigious LG Tournament, in which Ajax, Arsenal and Lazio will round out the tournament field.The team will stay in the neighboring city of Utrecht and will remain concentrated there during the days on which the tournement is held. On Tuesday afternoon, at 19:00 in the evening, the team will hold a practice in Utrecht, and will repeat the training session on Wednesday morning.After the session, the squad will attend the official presentation of Atletico de Madrid for the local media. It won’t be their only gathering with the local media, as Javier Aguirre and several members of the roster will head for Amsterdam to attend the opening press conference of the tournament on Wednesday 1 August at 19:00.On Thursday 2 August, the team will practice at 11:00, and will face Ajax in the Amsterdam Arena at 20:45. Atletico will play against Ajax again ten years after their last encounter, and the team will try to exact some measure of revenge for that Champions League match, in which the team played well enough to win but ended up drawing the match.On Friday 3 August, the team will continue to fine tune things for the final match with a practice at 11:00 in the morning. That day, the players will have their only free afternoon of the trip. The following day they’ll have another morning practice session and will face Lazio that evening at 19:00 in their second and final match of the tournament.Finally, on Sunday 5 August, at 12:15, the Atletico expedition will return to Madrid. Their arrival in Spain’s capital is expected at 14:40 in the afternoon.
