Honestly I liked how he approached the game in the beginning. Morris was feeling it Asik was finishing well in the first half. If guys are feeling it I don't want him unnecessarily forcing things. That is kind of why I was really annoyed with harden & Tony today because Morris was hot take advantage of it. Harden was pressing so bad & Tony was just so bad.

A lot of people don't realize that when players are getting there touches offensively they play harder on the defensive end. Not tonight obviously for the Rockets. He was getting his teammates involved early & guys were converting. If guys weren't converting on his looks then I would say look to score. But players were getting it done, can't be to mad with the approach he took early in the game.

I don't know why Cole is out there on the court at all. People are saying
that it is to up his trade value but I don't think that is it. I genuinely
believe McHale likes Cole (McHale actually said as much) & this frightens
me. Greg earned those back up minutes & Harden & Lin have better
chemistry with Asik & Greg. The starters have absolutely no chemistry with
Aldrich & Cole is just plain bad. It is frustrating to me seeing someone
like Greg who has legitimately hustled hard for us much this season not get the
playing time he deserves.
Also McHale's love affair with Tony needs to end. The Rockets thrive on
executing in the fast break & Tony consistently botches them amongst other
really dumb things he does. McHale's substitution patterns are really odd as
well, even when we were winning I found his in game management to be baffling.
Like for example, in the first quarter Lin, Asik & Morris were rolling but
McHale takes Lin & Asik out like he always does with 2 minutes left? Why if
they are feeling it continue to ride the hot hand.

Oh FYI... The Rockets must be prepping to move Aldrich. No excuse for him
getting that many minutes. Even in warmups you can tell that this guy is just
not a NBA basketball player.
He looks like the guy you pick last to be on your church basketball league
compared to pretty much everyone else. Just lacks too much skill and
coordination at this point in his career.
He needs to be moved to a team that needs some kind of size desperately
enough to take him in.
Oh and I actually wanted the Rockets to draft him instead of Patterson
years ago. Thank you Morey for not letting fans pick for you in the draft.

Yes I was there watching Lin get yelled at by coach and him gesturing to

coach about Cole messing up and then getting pissed at Cole for a few more
possessions after. I guess as the starting PG it's sort of his job, but not
sure Cole deserves all the blame for tonight's performance. He shouldn't have
been on the court to begin with.

Lin is great at setting people up, getting assists, and making the
unselfish play....but you can't only be good at that.
To truly be a good point guard, you have to have a sound offensive game,
and you have to be able to be a threat from the outside. The only proven
exception to this right now is Rondo, and even he is solid enough, but also has
far and away elite skills when it comes to defense, steals, rebounding,
passing, etc.
Simply put...Lin must improve his offense. You can only live off layups
and drives for so long.

I'd say his upside is pretty big since this guy can't shoot long jumper
at all but still manage to put decent numbers.

Lin needs to stop trying to force the lob pass into the post. He has at
least two turnovers a game trying to force into the post when the defender is
fronting the post man. If it's not there, just kick it reverse side. I'm fine
with his turnovers when they are thing such as charging, overthrowing a fast
break pass, but i hate when the turnovers are from things that are preventable:
such as jumping in the air with no where to go and forcing it, getting stolen
when not looking, and forcing it into the post...he'll improve...once his three
point jump shots improve, hopefully the tos will come off of better
situations...ie.being aggessive..

The game started out fine. JLin was schooling Westbrook in being a real
point guard by dishing and getting his teammates involved. Then he started to
shoot 3s and bricked twice, which is fine. He then shot another 3 an airball.

For heavens sake, it's ok that you airball sometimes but JLin hasn't been
shooting well so after two bricks you expect the 3rd one to either go in or
just brick again, but it has to be an airball. What made matters worst is his
TOs.
Like you said, JLin has a tendency to force a pass into the post. He did
that today and yesterday against the Spurs that resulted in TO. His long pass
ended up as a TO. His bounce pass was a TO. Everything that can go wrong went
wrong.
He should have understood OKC plays the passing lane well and they are
great defenders. He should have been ready for that. You just cant make the
same idiotic mistakes over and over again. Granted they played 4 games in 5
nights but there's no excuses for the TOs. I can give him a pass on the
shooting but not the TOs.

To be frankly, some of us maybe spoiled with the sublime performances
during the 5 game winning streak, of course i am 1 of them. We enjoyed a lot
watching the team gelled, playing extraordinary good offensively. Harden and
Lin meshing like they are having years of co-ordination and the results were
against 1st, 4th and 9th defense by that time in the league, namely Grizzlies,
Bulls and Knicks. Of course even better is the grind out win in Minny, it's the
best occasion you can grow your young players mentally.
Paid credits where it's due, by that time, I honestly think McHale and
his co were doing great and earning lots of respect even though the league
didn't give the credits where they deserved. 1st in pace, 1st in offensive, 6th
in rebounding rate and 9th assisting rate by that time(7th right now, even
better), 29th in defense, I guess it's the normal rank with the youngest team
in the NBA. It's good that we nearly forgot what happened in the early season,
lots of ISO, lack of ball movement,no set plays in crunch time, just letting
the best man DIY on the court. Maybe that's we called growing pain.
And then these two games, we are expected to lose anyway. But it's the
process itself that raise me a question. When the talents played to their
strength, Lin being play maker and floor general, Harden being the finisher,
Parsons and Asik played to their strength, they are that good indeed, you don't
need any in match tuning or coaching that much. Thats why I appreciate McHale
did in Minny, played the bench in 3Q to see what happens cause our back court
was heavily guarded in 1st, 2nd Q, thats nice on court tuning. But the question
is, what if somebody likes Pop, Sloan, Dantoni did? Will they sacrifice 20
matches to know it's best to play PG as PG, SG as SG, better make substitutions
consistently which encouraged the young guys development. We see nearly zero
minutes for the 1st 15 games or so for DMO or TJones. And at this point, 16
wins 14 losses in WC is pretty good achievement but can it be even better? I think
so.
While it's still early to judge, McHale may be on its way to get his
Coach of the year in his 1st 82 game season which we all would like to see, I
hope we are not losing more games with some weird on court coaching or rotation
and somehow end up with the 14th pick which obviously, some of the internet
coaches on ESPN may think we are better enough to chase a 4/5th seed at the
end.

The Memphis game was impressive by HOU but MEM was on the second night of
a back to back though & Rockets weren't have to keep that in consideration
We would get eaten alive by LAC dreading that game & GSW likes to play fast
as well kind of curious how we stand against them. GSW is playing great
basketball. LAL depends, they are old so I think we would kill them with our
pace & there D isn't particularly good. Neither is our D. So it would
literally be a game of who is scoring more.

I'm not sure where I've read this but from what I recall McHale noted that he didn't believe our team had the pieces for a half-court offense so he wanted to run.
According to Morey Les has always wanted a run & gun team and believes it's the future, and Morey felt that we had the appropriate team for it right now, but would not be hesitant in getting a low-post scorer and slowing down our pace a bit while still being opportunistically fast.
So there seems to have been some consensus in trying to change our offense to just have guys running, but I agree, there still isn't any structure.
Aldrich shouldn't be out there, and there needs to be more Harden/ Lin - Greg Smith PnR and more screens being set for shooters and our guards.
I'm disgusted by how much confidence is placed in Aldrich by McHale, prior to these last two abomination outings by him, I remember he had a couple of post-ups drawn for him. POST-UPS for ALDRICH. And Toney running the point. SMFH.

Parsons, Lin & Harden are great at handling the ball and it appears the coaching staff are confident in Douglas' and Delfino's facilitating aptitude so oftentimes we look like we're running the game through democracy, rather than playing to each player's strengths
Harden is such an incredible talent but he just doesn't seem to be the vocal leader & dominant floor general that Chris Paul or Rajon Rondo are (though it's still premature conjecture), so until we have such a team leader, we'll need to have coaching staff define better roles rather than just hoping our players will figure that out amongst themselves.

More practice will no doubt help, but practice alone doesn't always get it done. After all, Lin does practice A LOT (always staying after team practice and always last to leave). You've mentioned that Lin shot around 80% in the offseason, and various fans have commented that Linconsistently
knocked down his 3's in pre-game shoot around this season. So why is he shooting so poorly during games? While Doc is helping Lin figure it out, it may not hurt to get a 2nd opinion.

Its really high arced which is why Jeremy always hits mostly the front end of the iron or airballs it. He needs to lower the arc a bit and maybe put a little more force into the shot. As i mentioned he airballs ALOT and watching him last year he hardly ever did that in fact i dont even remember an airball last year. Just fix the arc and i think his 3 pt shooting % should increase. The ball has serious hangtime when he shoots it too lol

Other than the shootings, he relied on his speed too much when driving to the hoop. Learn Europe step Jeremy.
