内维尔评论穆里尼奥 Phil Neville in incorrect Mourinho claim as he blasts disgusting critics Date published: Friday 24th August 2018 1:05Phil Neville has torn into critics of Jose Mourinho by insisting there is no one better to manage Manchester United. The United boss looks to be a man on the brink, with reports on Thursday suggesting the club were growing ‘increasingly concerned’ the Portuguese coach was set for massive meltdown, while on Friday it was suggested he would have ‘quit already’ had it been any other club but United. And while the knives for Mourinho appear to be sharpening – reports in the Daily Mail on Friday claimed Zinedine Zidane had already been shortlisted for the Old Trafford hotseat – the under-fire Portuguese coach at least has found some support in former star Neville. Mourinho’s critics have suggested the club could be in line for its worst under his tenure yet, pointing to the “third season syndrome” Mourinho has faced at some of his previous clubs. But Neville insists those critics are wrong, calling their words “disgusting” and “disgraceful” and also incorrectly claiming the United boss had delivered FA Cup glory during his time in charge at Old Trafford. Neville told BBC Radio Five Live: “I think it is disgusting. “I read something the other day that his methods are outdated and I think that’s the most disrespect thing ever. “How do these people know his methods are outdated when he comes back in a Manchester derby and wins 3-2? “Were his methods outdated in that? I think his record speaks for itself. “They are going through a bad period. That performance last week at Brighton was unacceptable but I don’t see a better man for the job. “In terms of his record since he’s gone to United – an FA Cup win, Carabao Cup win, Europa League win, two Champions League qualifications.“I don’t think all is smooth there and I think it’s a club issue but I think the criticism that’s getting, I just think it is disgraceful. I really do.” United – beaten 3-2 in their last match at Brighton – will hope to get back to winning ways when they host Tottenham on Monday – a match midfielder Fred has already declared a “must-win” game.
