This spinoff establishes that Minions have existed since the beginning of time, in service of history’s most ambitiously evil villains. Through their lovable ineptitude, Minions have managed to thwart and ultimately destroy all of those bad guys. This story picks up in the 1960s, before they hench-ed for Gru. With no more super-villains to serve, the Minions fall into a collective depression and three of them set out to seek a new evil master. Glee can take songs that haven’t been around in 30 years and instantly make them chart toppers, or perhaps take unknown songs and make them number one hits on the billboard top 100. Over night. I think Glee deserves a lot more credit. When ‘Fun’ a little New York Indie band released their song ‘We are Young’ in September 2011, hardly anyone knew who they were, or even cared…. Until, the Glee cast performed the song in one of their best performances to date. With in 24 hours the song was number one on the Billboard top 100. Let’s also not forgot Gotye and Kimbra’s ‘Somebody that I used to know’ that Darren Criss and Matt Bomer covered on Glee April 10th as well as A Saturday Night Live performance by Goyte and Kimbra that saw the single hit number one for a number of weeks. Fun, Gotye and Kimbra are now Grammy winners. I’m not saying it’s because of Glee, but I do believe Glee has helped these songs as well as many others became as big of a success as they are.
