【新闻】Billboard预测2013格莱美 The Grammy awards are a day away but that hasn’t stopped Billboard from sharing their predictions. Billboard broke down their key awards in two ways, who should win, and who will win. Frank Ocean is nominated for both Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist. What does Billboard think? They think Frank Ocean should win Album of the Year but ultimately will lose to Mumford and Sons. As far as Best New Artist goes, they think Frank should win and will win the award. If you ask us, Frank Ocean should leave with a Grammy for almost every category he’s nominated for, foremost among them Album of the Year, "Channel Orange" is the best conceived album among those nominated, incorporating funk, rock, and R&B are all apparent with a vocal delivery that’s both passionate and cool. He’s the closest thing we’ve gotten to Prince in a good while. Still, for all the critical acclaim his “Orange” has earned, Mumfords & Sons’ brand of English folk — rootsy heartache and frustration— seems a bit easier to digest for the often staid Grammy voters than the highbrow “Orange.” At times it feels like Frank doesn’t want to be understood completely, whereas Mumford & Sons is the kind of accessibly, rock-based music that's been celebrated at the Grammys for years. While "Channel Orange" is a complex work of art with twists and turns that will likely prove too difficult for the Grammy voters' to fully embrace as Album of the Year, Ocean should score an easy win here for presenting himself as a fully formed new artist with fresh ideas in a storied genre. Fun. has the best shot at depriving Ocean of what he rightly deserves, but the R&B renaissance man has a very good chance of following in the tradition of recent offbeat winners like Esperanza Spalding and Bon Iver.
【新闻】前拳王泰森建议法海吸逼平息争端 By now, you are probably aware that Mike Tyson thinks Justin Bieber is "awesome," an opinion he shared with MTV News earlier this week, and one he backed up by singing something that allegedly was a Bieber tune. Tyson was in town to promote the nationwide tour of his one-man play,"Undisputed Truth," and an upcoming cameo on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and while he discussed both of those projects during his time in the MTV Newsroom, he really wanted to talk about music. Turns out that, in addition to Bieber, he's also a huge fan of Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and Frank Ocean ... but he saved the highest praise for Chris Brown, the man he considers to be "the king." "You don't put him in the same category, he's so far above these guys, these new guys," Tyson said. "Chris Brown is more of a veteran than those guys; he's been there and done it." He certainly has. Of course, since Tyson is a fan of both Ocean and Brown, we had to ask him about the brawl that occurred between the two artists earlier this week in the parking lot of a Los Angeles recording studio. And while Tyson went to great lengths to stress the fact that his fighting days are behind him — "That's the furthest thing from me now, man," he said — he could definitely relate to their situation. After all, it's one he's found himself in more times than he'd care to recall. "Even when I was in fights and these guys started it and I finished it, I still went to jail. They didn't go to jail! They had guns and stuff and they told the cops 'Yeah we were going to shoot him' and they still put me in jail!" he sighed. "A situation like [those] two guys, there's not much advice you can give them. It's hard to listen to somebody when you've got a couple of hundred million dollars, or $50 million or whatever, it's hard to listen to somebody. Sometimes you've got to feel the fire to know it's hot. "These guys realize they're going to get locked up, they're going to get fined a hell of a lot of money, you know, now they're going to be stereotypes ... it's going to be on record that these guys are bad guys, and they constantly get in trouble," he continued. "And the next thing you know you got a lawyer involved, you got a cop involved, you got a prosecutor involved, you got a jury involved. You're up s--- creek without a paddle."
【新闻】T.I.透漏OutKast迟迟未能重组的原因 Grammy-winning rapper T.I. recently discussed hip-hop fans' infatuation with seeing Andre 3000and Big Boi link up at least one final time for a full-fledged OutKast reunion. In Tip's perspective, the reason we have yet to see an OutKast reunion or even Dr. Dre's long-awaited Detox LP is due to the artists' own fear and concerns. "From me speaking to Dre man I heard him being open to it, I really did. I think his concern is do the kids right now who are young and buying music care enough about an Outkast album for it to make a difference. Which is the same concern that I hear from other people that we all love and respect in this industry like Dr. Dre. I was working with Doc on "Detox" and that was his same concern. Of course we're looking at them like we have such huge admiration for them for what they've done in the past, but they are looking at themselves kind of like 'What do I mean to the young kid of today that is going out there to buy music?' That's what the struggle is." (The Urban Daily) The "King of the South" also publicly acknowledged how much he would love to see Andre and Boi hook back up. "It's not whether or not they want to do it, it's whether they feel like it's significant enough to be done. Nobody wants to tarnish their reputation or legacy with a lackluster presentation or poorly received album after having such a decorated past. That's a lot of pressure for cats like that. But I know one thing, all you gotta do is let me know it's coming out and I'm there. That's just me. And I'm gonna make sure my kids listen to it and that they know how important it is to culture. If you are an admirer of music today you need to know what set the stage for all of your favorite artists right here right now to do it." (The Urban Daily) A couple weeks ago, Three Stacks publicly nixed speculation of an OutKast reunion taking place despite a few joint records dropping. In response to the persistent rumors, André 3000 issued the following statement exclusively to SPIN: "It's important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to 'Pink Matter' and 'Sorry.' I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi's name came up. I never want to mislead our audience - I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes. I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is ... and what it isn't." (SPIN) In early 2012, Andre explained his disinterest in rushing out a reunion LP. "There's been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There's a lot of music on the horizon. I've been living off the excitement of new artists. I've been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, "Hey, Andre, we want you on this song." So I've been taking those calls and for the last two years, I've been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I've just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I'm planning to do a solo project. I don't know when it will come out, but hopefully it'll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don't know if or when that will happen." (GQ)
