That love of acting didn’t completely take over though. Taylor is quite the active teenager. He played football and baseball throughout junior high and high school (he has since graduated). Taylor played both sides in football, covering running back on offense and middle linebacker on defense. Baseball, Taylor covers the difficult position of center field. Apparently his feek can’t stop moving either. Taylor is a member of the hip-hop dance group, LA Hip Kids.
With New Moon coming out in theaters soon (by the time this article is released), Taylor has been working hard to promote the character and movie as a whole. He knows he has a difficult goal, to make Jacob so appealing that an audience can understand Bella loving him but also still believe that Bella ultimately belongs with Edward. “I personally love Jacob and Bella’s relationship,” says Taylor. “How they begin as best friends and it starts to grow into something more. Both guys are in love with Bella. Both guys are always gonna be there for Bella And they’re protective. I just think its what kind of guy [fans] like.” The stunt work increased as well. While Kristen Stewart was terrified just to ride a dirt bike, Taylor loved every minute. There’s one stunt where he runs up the side of Bella’s house. “It was definitely challenging, that stunt was really complicated and you need to be on. Every single weekend I would practice that stunt for three hours a day and it was the last thing we filmed.” It wasn’t the stunts that gave Taylor the most joy though but the final day of filming with his wig. “I had a sigh of relief. It not only was comfortable. 1) I’d look at myself in the mirror and I wouldn’t be able to recognize myself. 2) it was very itchy, and hot. But it also slowed down the filming process whenever it got caught in my eye or mouth. I’m coming this close to kissing Bella and I’m like ‘sorry, gotta spit my hair out’. The last day of filming with the wig, we ripped it off, held it up in the air and were like ‘that’s a wrap on Taylor’s wig’.” I doubt any girl out there was opposed to the loss of the wig either.

Taylor has to promote the movie both with his fellow wolves (who are plotting to get wolfpack tattoos, an idea that Taylor is vague about-at least while still underage) and Kristen Stewart as most of this movie revolves around Bella and Jacob. He knows very well that “its not normal to drive down the street and see your face up there.” But he knows there is such pressure for him to live up to the relationship that fans love and create an appealing Jacob. Kristen herself knows the difficulty of what Taylor has to deal with. As far as the transformation she says “I always knew that Taylor could do that but we just needed to make sure because it was so important. Once he actually proved himself, even seeing him walk around on set was like a different experience. He’s just grown up. He’s so confident and the nicest guy that I’ve ever met. He’s great. I’m so proud of him.”

Those fans can go crazy sometimes. Even moms are obsessed with Twilight after all. When it comes to balancing the fans and the public Taylor admits, “its difficult, it is. It’s definitely important to stay true to yourself and stay close to those people who you were close to before. Family, friends, and just not let that outside stuff get to you.” He’s not completely opposed to screaming fangirls though. But then, what guy isn’t? He notes that he’s very moved by fans who burst into tears but it makes him sad too. “Its an amazing feeling to know you can touch somebody in that way.” Taylor will stick to being a human though. He knows actually transforming into a werewolf could get ugly. Fans wanting a bonus treat can watch for a few Quileutes words spoken by Taylor in New Moon. He’s not admitting what he said though, apparently you’ll have to find your own Quileute translator.

Taylor has a definite knack for sidestepping tricky questions. When asked about Bryce Dallas Howard replacing Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria, (a fact that angered many fans) Taylor responded “It was definitely sad to see her go. The entire cast loves her. But Bryce is amazing, she is extremely talented and a great girl as well. I wouldn’t be able to pick one that I’m closest to. I’d end up listing the whole cast.” Quite the diplomat. Its his cageyness when asked about Taylor Swift that is most impressive. He says he doesn’t know if Taylor’s written a song about him, saying that is a scary thing, but only saying it was great to work with her on the set of their new movie “Valentine’s Day.” As far as their real life romance, mum’s the word. “All of you have seen every single move I make so I guess I can leave that up to you to decide.” Taylor Swift may have been a little freer admitting to it, faking a kiss and mouthing I love you during her SNL monologue. And perhaps the most important question is who would win, Jacob or Edward? “I honestly don’t know. That discussion is still up in the air. We should probably get Stephenie Meyer on the line and ask her.” 
 
 
Taylor’s next move, after promoting New Moon around the world, is back to work on Eclipse. This time around was much better as the cast filmed during the summer. “Canada’s great,” says Taylor. “This past time filming Eclipse, it was beautiful. It’s just one of the most beautiful cities, I’m gonna miss it a lot.” Eclipse is easily the fan favorite of the series and that is shared by Taylor. He loves Eclipse and felt a passion to give fans the book they loved. So far, Taylor says the scenes look amazing. The character of Jacob Black is one that he can be proud of. That’s because the man who plays him is a man to be proud of.
