The 9th Global Chinese Music Awards was held in Beijing on Nov 19. Li Yuchun is one of the biggest winners that night, receiving her first “Most Popular Female Singer” Award at Global Chinese Music Awards. And her winning marks the end of the Hongkong and Taiwan singers’ domination over the global Chinaese music. For the first time, GCMA is bestowing “Most Popular” to a mandarin singer, which is a glorious and memorable moment for Mainland music. 
Chun snatched another 3 awards together with the “most popular”: “The Best Stage Performer”, “Top 5 Most Popular Female Singer” and “Top 20 Hits of the Year: Why Me”. For this award only concerns music produced in last year, Chun’s new album isn’t getting right time to be nominated. However, I believe in later awards, she will get honored with her own music compositions.
