Cause and Effect From the CD "In So Many Words" (c)(p) Matthew Lien / Whispering Willows Music 2001 And the man declared All the dirt, the dust and hair Will vanish right into the air For a little while You can purchase with a smile And a credit card, without a care It never seemed that notable Those cartridges, disposable Just go away come garbage day The tragedy in utero Reveals a bleeding embryo An ecosystem in decay (Chorus) This is spiritual neglect This is cause and effect And so With every move that you select You are the cause and the effect And so it goes It's a polished act As you present the basic facts And the sale was unilateral And the papers said "More than fifty thousand dead" And the damage was collateral The sounds of bombs and fire alarms A mother with her babe in arms Hurries toward the cellar door Fire burned within her heart The strike was swift, the bomb was smart A flash of light and nothing more (Chorus) This is spiritual neglect This is cause and effect And so With every move that you select You are the cause and the effect And so it goes Oh... Every deal and every pact Every time you fail to act Every wrapper, plastic tray Everything you throw away And every time you cast your vote Wars, domestic and remote Everything you've ever heard Every move and every word... And the lion said "Praise to God, the lamb is dead Hail the mighty interest rate" And the path was found To attain the higher ground Where the corporate raiders congregate But in a far and distant land Dying in the desert sand The victim of hypocrisy How could no one recognize Reflected in that child's eyes Was fear and pain and you and me (Chorus) This is spiritual neglect This is cause and effect And so With every move that you select You are the cause and the effect And so... This is all that you direct You are the cause and the effect And so With every move that you select You are the cause and the effect And so... it goes马休连恩自己的评价:This is a personal comment about the song "Cause and Effect". I have often thought about how our actions and inactions can have far-reaching effects on our world, and on each other. The products we purchase... every little thing... the people we vote for in elections, the times we speak out --- and don't speak out --- against injustice, and so on... everything we do and don't do has some impact on the world. This idea was the inspiration for this song. And it burned within me for a long time to find some way to express this concept musically and lyrically. So with the creation and completion of "Cause and Effect", I felt a great sense of accomplishment. I still feel that this is one of the most important songs I have ever written and composed, which is why it remains on the home page for downloading... In this world, where our government leaders are making monstrous decisions in the name of the people --- in the name of "democracy" --- I can only hope the message in this song will further contribute to the chorus of people calling for a peaceful and compassionate world.

what is Bessanone?Bessanone is a beautiful, very old city in northern Italy, in a region known as South Tyrol. South Tyrol was once part of a country called Tyrol, and was also a part of Austria. South Tyrol became a part of Italy after World War 1. Because of its Austrian history, it is much more Austrian than Italian. People will understand German there, as well as Italian, and all cities have two names - one in German and one in Italian. Bressanone (Italian) is also known as Brixen (German). It is a very beautiful city indeed. To the north of Bressanone is the Brenner Mountain Pass. I crossed this mountain pass by train when I left Bressanone. Hope this helps! _________________Matthew (Ma show)

Bressanone From the CD "Bleeding Wolves" (c)(p) Matthew.Lien / Whispering Willows Music 1995 Here I stand in Bressanone With the stars up in the sky Are they shining over Brenner And upon the other side You would be a sweet surrender I must go the other way And my train will carry me onward Though my heart would surely stay Whoa, my heart would surely stay Now the clouds are flying by me And the moon is on the rise I have left stars behind me They were diamonds in your skies You would be a sweet surrender I must go the other way And my train will carry me onward Though my heart would surely stay Whoa, my heart would surely stay
