I am a player of LOL. I have some idea about crit.
I hate randomness, especially when I play an ADC role.Because of crit, it is common for me to lose the last hit. So I wonder how to change this attribute.
After touching statistics, I have an idea. 20% critical hit rate is equal to 120% common attack expectation. Then why not use common attack expectation instead of critical hit rate? For example, one role's AD is 100, while it buy a Brawler's Gloves, so its common attack will become 110 and it's not going to increase AD skills damage.
COMMON ATTCK DAMAGE = (1+ 1*CRIT RATE)*AD VALUE
COMMON ATTCK DAMAGE = (1+ COMMON ATTACK EXPECTATION)*AD VALUE
Order of critical hits is also important.
"Critical hit. Critical hit. Critical hit. Common hit. Common hit." is quite different from " Common hit. hits Common. Critical hit. Critical hit. Critical hit." Different order leads to different results.
And it is the reason why Ashe does not rely on crit equipment. I think if critical hit is replaced with expectation, ADc roles will have more equipment options. At the same time, we can make sure assassin won't choose these equipment because they need AD value while not common attack damage increase.
As for roles like Yasuo, Ashe, Jhin, Tryndamere. I have a plan to keep the connection between cret rate and them. Yasuo will get double expectation increase from equipment but his expectation upper limit is 190% or 180. The deceleration effect caused by Ashe will double, but the probability of doubling depends on the expected value. And Jhin, expectation upper limit is 150%, random acceleration probability depends on XX expectation increase. Fourth bullet cause 150% AD value damage and XX% target lost HP. And Tryndamere, let critical strike become his characteristic! Then, he's not going to be like this, he's got more equipment options.
Infinity Edge is the only equipment to change. If a equipment give you 80 AD value and 50 expectation icrease, it will break the game. So why not change its passive? Owner's normal attack will change 5% of the true damage. It make ADc more ability to courter tank and avoid be chosen by soldiers and assassins, for it won't change skills damage into true damage.
It's better for a few people to have randomness than for a group of people, isn't it? And its code changes are much easier and simpler than other changes. At least it's worth a try.
