克苏恩（C'Thun）名字传说来源于克苏鲁(Cthulhu)
希女王（和她两个姐妹）的姓风行者（Windrunner）由风（wind）及跑步者（runner）组成
机克（Mecha'Thun）由机械的（mechanic）缩写成的前缀和克苏恩的名字组成（克苏恩读音近似是克'苏+鼻音，机克读音近似是麦克'苏+鼻音）
喵喵王（the Lich King）中Lich是巫妖（原意是死尸）的意思
血法师（bloodmage）是血液（blood）和法师（mage）的组合
奈法利安名字（Nefarian）疑似来源于单词邪恶的（nefarious）
伊利丹和玛法里奥的姓氏怒风（Stormrage）由风暴（storm）和愤怒（rage）组成
