Students Reach For Their Dreams At First Annual GRAMMY Camp The first annual GRAMMY Camp launched on July 30, with 47 high school students from across the country converging at Citrus College in Los Angeles. This landmark event, sponsored by Shure and CenterStaging, with support from Epiphone, offered five curriculum tracks: audio engineering, film/TV scoring and arranging, music business, instrumental performance, and singer/songwriter performance. Students in the performance track were divided into two groups, each including a keyboard, bass and guitar player and a drummer. Students in the singer/songwriter track wrote and performed original songs, with the arrangements created by the performance track students. The music was then recorded to CD by the engineering students, who were also given the opportunity to learn live sound engineering first-hand during the closing showcase performance. Finally, the film/TV scoring and arranging students had the opportunity to write original music for a one-minute clip of a major Fox Film release. The compositions were conducted by the Fox Orchestra, who recorded the students' original music and synched it to the film clip.
