1. Is it OK to permit students to go to the toilet during class?
     My classmates recently held a heated discussion about the regulation Hubei Province made that students were allowed to go the toilet during class. Those in favor of it argued that it was normal to remember to go after the bell rang and if not permitted, students would not concentrate in class and their health may be affected..
     On the other side, those opposing also gave strong arguments: it would influence not only his own study but also the pace of the class. What’s more, as we grow up, we should gradually learn to control ourselves, and school’s forbidding can effectively make us to cultivate this good habit.
     As for me, I hold the opinion that it can be allowed for students of the lower grades but shouldn’t be encouraged among those of the higher grades.


2. Views on newspapers
     About 45% of the students surveyed are fond of reading newspapers in that it’s not confined to a certain time like other medias such as TV or the internet, and thus more convenient. What’s more, as one can acquire information according to one’s personal interest, reading can stimulate you to think in the process of which your intelligence improves.
     On the other hand, the rest who are against this activity also present strong arguments: newspapers which are not vivid enough because of the lack of sounds and pictures are slow in the transmission of information when compared with those high-tech products.
     In my opinion, reading newspapers while your eyes suffer from watching TV or the computer screen makes up a good way to stay informed.

4. An invitation letter
     Dear Peter:
     How are you getting along with your studies? Hope you’ve made great progress in Chinese.
     I’ve just learned in the newspaper that a talent show called “Learning Chinese, Singing Chinese Songs” will be held by Beijing TV Station on 18th July. It’s a wonderful opportunity to show your ability and a big yet stimulating challenge, isn’t it? But, difficult as it may be, it will do you good in that your fluency of Chinese will be improved through your preparation.

5. New Trend of Holiday-taking
     Above all, the percentage of people taking holidays has risen by 15.4% indicating a sharp increase in the living standards of the citizens. What’s more, compared with the limited choices made by people in 1995 such as the main places of interest within the province and the city, no3wasays people visit great sceneries both home and abroad, thus making the trip such more colorful and letting people understand others cultures.
     There’re also important changes in the ways of transportation: bicycles, buses, taxis which were of enormous popularity ten years ago are now replaced by private cars, as well as trains and planes. And travel agents are embraced by more and people or their perfect servi8ce and reasonable charges.
