　　我很高兴出席中国援萨摩亚境外培训项目——“2018年萨摩亚创意手工艺品和缝纫技术海外培训班”开班仪式。

It is with great pleasure that I come with my colleagues to attend the Opening Ceremony of Training Course on Creative Handicrafts and Sewing Technology for Samoa sponsored by the Chinese government.

　　女士们，先生们，
　　为了今天缝纫技术培训班的正式举办，有许多人在幕后付出了艰辛的努力。首先，我要感谢萨摩亚政府，特别是萨外交贸易部，妇女、社区和社会发展部，对本次培训的大力支持。他们与中国使馆共同探讨实施本项目，完善培训方案，协助选择部分村和学员，并提供了部分车辆用于运送培训物资。
　　其次，我要感谢不远万里来到萨摩亚的中国老师，他们中许多人是第二次来到萨摩亚。他们的敬业态度和奉献精神赢得了当地民众的尊敬。许多老师一到萨摩亚，没有休息，就开始紧张地组装缝纫机，每天工作到凌晨两点，周末也在加班。他们就希望尽快将自己的知识和技能传授给当地学员。今天，在开班前，这些老师完成了所有准备工作，非常不容易。我提议，让我们共同为这些可爱的老师鼓掌，向他们致谢！
Ladies and gentlemen,
The successful opening of this training program will not be possible without the concerted efforts of many people both from Samoa and China.
Firstly, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Samoan government, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, for their strong support in collaboration with Chinese Embassy in implementing this program including selecting the villages and participants and providing vehicles for transporting the supplies for training purpose, etc.
Secondly, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciations to the Chinese teachers who have come all the way from China, and also to the Chinese engineers and technicians who have been based in Samoa for various China-Aid projects. In the past week, they have worked together day and night to assemble all the sewing machines, sometimes late into nights or during weekends, in order that all the machines could be assembled and ready for use in time for the training program. Now all these technical preparation work has been finished. Let us give all the teachers and engineers and technicians a big round of applause for their hard work. Thank you!

　　最后，我要感谢全体萨摩亚学员。你们的真诚友善打动了我们所有的人。在上周组装缝纫机期间，当地学员为中国老师送来席子供他们中午休息，还送来水果、食物、矿泉水和冰淇淋等午餐。许多学员还帮助搬运和组装设备。上周，中国最大、最具影响力的国家电视台——中央电视台记者来到萨摩亚，他们用摄像机记录下这些感人的场景。我相信，不久，亿万中国观众将通过中央电视台的纪录片，看到萨摩亚人民的真诚、友好、善良与热情好客。
Last but not least, I would like to express our warm gratitude to all the organizers in the villages who have made detailed arrangements for the training program, as well as to all the villagers who have helped in all the preparation work. Some have brought the mats for their Chinese friends to take a short rest during noon time. Some have helped in carrying the equipment. Some have brought fruits, ice cream, mineral water and other food for their Chinese friends. The touching moments between Chinese and Samoan people were captured by a journalist team from China Central Television (CCTV), the biggest official television station in China. The special feature TV program will be scheduled to be broadcast both in China and in the world through CCTV's international channels, and billions of audience will be able to see the kind hearts and warm hospitality of Samoan people.

　　缝纫技术培训只是一个小项目，但它惠及当地许许多多的家庭。去年，培训结束后，我们将所有缝纫机捐给各个村。有的村将缝纫机集中起来，由参训学员再利用这些设备培训村里更多的妇女，使中国的知识技能惠及更多当地妇女；有的村将缝纫机送给参训学员，让学员利用这些设备做一些小生意。我们走访了许多学员，看到这个培训实实在在地改善了学员的生活：有的学员找到了新工作，有的学员利用学到的技能为“白色星期天”（儿童节）的孩子们缝制新衣服，有的学员利用中国缝纫技术挣到了钱，正准备修缮自己的房屋。
Ladies and gentlemen,
As proved by last year's practice, this sewing skills training program has been beneficiary not only to the participants, but also to many more other families in many more villages. Some villages have gathered all the sewing machines that have been donated by Chinese government in one place in the village so that all the villagers can have access to these sewing machines to sew clothes for family members for many festival occasions . Some villagers have taught other villagers how to sew. Some even have started to earn money with the sewing skills they have learned.
　　我衷心祝愿所有参加培训的学员充分利用这次难得的机会，通过你们勤劳的双手改变你们的生活。
