Fan “totally loses” her “shit” as 30 Seconds to Mars announce plans to spread The Summit
By Shawn Conner(这个人实在太可爱了)
Rebekkah Downs is excited. According to the 21 University of Toronto student, she totally lost her shit upon hearing rock band 30 Seconds to Mars is bringing its interactive fan experience to Toronto.
The first “Summit”, as the band calls them, was held in Los Angeles April 26. After the success of its “audio experiment”, the group—led by actor Jared Leto—has decided to hold similar events in Australia, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada “and possibly more,” according to a press release.
The release goes on to say that “these ‘mini’ Summits won’t be as involved and in depth as the original Summit,” and that the band itself will not be attending. At the Los Angeles Summit, the band recorded fans singing and doing percussion for its upcoming album.
“Oh my God, I totally lost my shit when I heard,” Downs told guttersnipefakenews.com. “And I’m still losing it.”
The decade-old band made news last year when 30 Seconds to Mars had a falling out with its label, EMI/Virgin. But now the group and EMI/Virgin “have, like, totally made up,” according to Downs. EMI/Virgin plan to release the new 30 Seconds to Mars recording, with a working title of This is War. A tour, in which the band members (or some, anyway) actually do show up, is imminent.
“I’ve seen them already like three times,” says Downs. “They’re awesome. Jared Leto is like the most amazing singer. You can’t take your eyes off him.”
Although largely derided in the music press as mediocre at best, 30 Seconds to Mars went platinum with its 2005 album, A Beautiful Lie. The modern-rock group has also inspired a fanatical following, which calls itself The Echelon. Echelon activities include letter-writing campaigns, inundating social networking site Twitter with multiple uses of 30 Seconds to Mars hashtags (a tag which helps promote, group together and track popular topics), and paintball.
