难道没有考虑过柠檬霜基因和癌变的关系吗?这好像不是新闻了
“Update on the Lemon Frosts from the pathologist: "Hi John and Don - I just wanted to give you an update on the Lemon Frost geckos.
As suspected, the tumors are consistent with iridophoromas (pigment cell tumor). The characteristic nature of these tumors is the presence of crystals in their cytoplasm that refract light - which is why they appear white in the animals. In the male from Don, there were tumors in multiple organs in addition to the skin - surrounding the trachea, in the liver, kidneys, and lungs. In John’s female - the biggest masses were in the skin, but there were also microscopic aggregates of neoplastic cells in the lungs and liver.
This is consistent with either the formation of multiple spontaneous tumors (each mass started as a different tumor), or more likely, metastatic/malignant spread of the tumor cells throughout the body.
You can expect a full necropsy report from me, either by the end of the week or next week. Because I want to work this up as much as possible, I am going to order some special stains on the neoplastic cells for full characterization, and that may delay things a little.
I have attached a picture of the tumor cells (brownish-black at this magnification, but on higher mag - they are yellow-gray) both in the skin, forming a mass in the subcutis, and the liver (where they are surrounded by all of the vacuolated/clear cells). This type of cell does not belong in the liver, and certainly not forming a mass there - and it is clear evidence that these are aggressive tumors - not just restricted to the skin. Let me know if you have any questions.““
Basically, either the Lemon Frost morph produces multiple tumors in separate locations OR it produces malignant tumors that spread quickly. Either way, things are not looking good for this morph. No word yet on The Gourmet Rodent’s studies.
