JOEY: Hey, whaddya wanna do for dinner?
CHANDLER: Well we could just stay in and cook for ourselves. [both laugh hysterically]
请问这里有什么好笑的?

lol the kitchen comes with the apartment! there's no choice with that one.
there was this scene, where janice and chandler got back together. janice made pancakes, joey didn't know, he asked chandler: you made pancakes? chan said: yeh, like there's anyway i could EVER do that.
thanksgiving, monica wanted to use their oven, but it was broken. she said: hey, did you guys know your oven doesn't work? joey said: but the drawer full of take-out menus are fine right?
there are lots of other examples, but these are the only two i can think of right now.
and plus, it's really normal that new york bachelors don't cook. hell, it's really normal for bachelors from anywhere not to cook.

although not quite agree with u, thanks anyway for ur reply, which shows at least there is someone here always willing to help
no doubt, I know much less about 'friends' than u guys and so far i've just up to s2, still, find a scene where joey cooks pasta source in the episode in which he has to sleep with a casting lady to get the part as Dr. Drake Remore. if he can make source, with some noodles or pasta, i dont think thats difficult for him to cook a meal himself. otherwise, what is the source for?
moreover, i think the key word here is 'could'('Well we could just stay in and cook for ourselves'). always be confused about words such as 'would'& 'could'. here, i guess the sentence doesn't necessarily mean it's an irony although it can be, to me this is more likely to convey that they may cook themselves if there's no better option.
the problem is just what i asked here, what makes it funny? BTW, do u laugh at all when u watch it?
ps welcome back!

it's sauce, not source =]
and yeah, the "they never cook thing" is definately a bug. i've seen them cooking before, but at this scene, the reason why they're laughing is because they "never cook" (shrug)
you don't have to agree with me lol, i always think it's the best when you laugh at what YOU think is funny, rather than what's the "right thing", hell, it's just a sit-com, right?
and yes i do laugh out very loud when i watch it, over and over and over again.

for sure, its just a tv show, but people still tend to find out why it is funny, otherwise what the hell we do watch it for? the only reason is to have fun, right?
and since u admit its a mistake here, why did u post so many stuff to prove if i was wrong?
lol

no no i never tried to prove you wrong. i was just trying to explain it to you.
as i said before, the reason why ppl laugh at this scene is because "they never cook", but through out the series they do cook, so it's a bug.
get what i mean? even though it's a bug, but still, at this scene, that's kinda the reason why they laugh.
i think we should stop the discussion here, otherwise we'll turn into Ross and Russ.
lol

i just thought u might be enjoying the topic since i saw a great deal of 'lol', thats something made me confused once more.
