黑王子这个大普货也有来历不明的问题。

"Echeveria 'Black Prince: this is the first offering of this appealing new cultivar developed by Frank Reinelt of Capitola, California. the seed parent is Echeveria shaviana and the pollen parent is E. affinis. E. affinis, the "black" Echeveria, gives the new plant its color, and E. shaviana gives the plant its delicacy. Rather than black, the 'Black Prince' is actually more of a dark lavender brown. The rosettes are up to 3 inches in diameter; the leaves are quite thin and at first triangular, becoming rather spatulate, to 23 mm wide, tip acuminate, the very point is hyaline yellow."
Note :
Obviously, the plants we have with the name 'Black Prince' do not well match the above description, they are not "dark lavender brown", the leaves are neither thin nor spatulate and the very point is not hyaline yellow.
Conclusion : The parentage E. affinis x E. shaviana is not correct for the plant today called E. 'Black Prince'.
As E. affinis is only "slowly proliferous" and E. shaviana is also only "sparsely branching" it may well be possible that this hybrid has got lost to cultivation and the name been attached to other "black" echeverias - what would explain why 'Black Prince' is a very variable hybrid.

Echeveria Sierra 一般被认为是爱斯诺（塞拉利昂），然而ICN上的 Echeveria Sierra 完全不是这样，特别是亲本，姬莲杂锦司晃更是令人匪夷所思，就问一句，毛呢？所以主流认为的爱斯诺与 Echeveria Sierra 之间只是沾了点姬莲的边，真正的来源就不得而知了。其实，大量常见姬莲杂交种都未被收入ICN，起源也是基本查不到，真实性都值得怀疑。

The Near Catastrophic Event Involving the Infant Echeveria ‘Etna’ and the Russian Blue “Catherine”
Echeveria ‘Etna’, hybridized by my mother Denise, came to life in December, 1981 and was named for the volcano ‘Etna’ in Sicily. Dick Wright, a good friend of Denise, agrees that the probable parents of ‘Etna’ are his own beautiful hybrids, Echeveria ‘Barbillion’ and Echeveria ‘Mauna Loa’.
One night, when the infant ‘Etna’ was around an inch in diameter, the forecast was for a very frosty night, and my mother, concerned that the seedling Echeverias might freeze, brought the entire seed flat into the house and put it in the kitchen. She then went on to bed. Unbeknownst to her, the Russian Blue cat “Catherine” was prowling around, as cats love to do at night, and decided at some point that Echeveria seedlings would probably make great “hockey pucks”. No one has any idea why this idea struck Catherine, but when my mother arose in the early morning, stumbling half-asleep into the kitchen to make coffee, she quickly became aware that her Echeveria infants were scattered all over the kitchen floor! Needless to say, she was not amused, and it was with great effort that she refrained from committing caticide. Order was restored in the universe; ‘Etna’ survived and grew to be a beautiful Echeveria, and Catherine grew into a beautiful, eccentric cat.
