As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing. What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?
Nowadays work has become an indispensable part of most adults’ lives. When choosing a job, whether it is satisfying usually has been highly valued. However, the importance of the elements relating to the job satisfaction, such as traffic convenience, salary and working environment, differ from people to people. Thus, it leads to an issue that some people cannot balance these elements appropriately, which may result in a failure of their careers.
From my perspective, there are two important factors linked to the job satisfaction. The first factor is salary which directly determines an individual’s financial condition. Commonly, a well-paid job allows people to purchase more commodities, especially those luxury brands associated with higher social status. Another major factor, working environment, can also bring some impacts on one’s well-being.. For example, if individuals must work with a leader they cannot tolerate, their working enthusiasm would be greatly weakened, which also negatively affects their productivity.
On the other hand, workers should also concern the reasonableness of their requirements in terms of job satisfaction. There are some limitations for a person to seek a high-satisfying job. For instance, if a family has suffered a heavy financial burden, such as some debts, the family members would have to pay more attention to the salary rather than considering whether they can have an enjoyable feeling while working.
In conclusion, I believe that although salary and working environment can significantly influence a person’s choice when finding employment, the workers’ circumstances, such as financial pressure, cannot be ignored. Sometimes, job satisfaciton can be regarded as a luxury to people who live in poverty.
