《迷宫行者》（The Maze Runner）根据詹姆斯·达什纳（James Dashner）创作的一套类似《饥饿游戏》的小说改编，故事由三部分组成，分别是《迷宫行者》（The Maze Runner）、《灼热试炼》（The Scorch Trials）和《死亡解药》（The Death Cure）。
故事的主角是一个叫做“托马斯”的男孩，在《迷宫行者》中托马斯要带领大家找到迷宫的出口，而在《灼热试炼》中他则要和伙伴们在两周时间内，穿过地球上被太阳耀斑炙烤的最灼热的焦土，到达北方的避难所。
《灼热试炼》将延续《迷宫行者》的主要阵容，男主角迪兰·欧布莱恩（Dylan O’Brien）和导演韦斯·鲍尔（Wes Ball）等都会回归。
