I got to admit that in the real world, which more often than not seems very cruel, I don’t see any sense when anyone argues that literature or philosophy is the most important thing in our life, but the “crap” does give us a lot of comfort when we sometimes get tired of the material prosperity. Someone even says that the poetry is very close to our heart, and what do you think?

German philosophers? What a coincidence. I’m kind of familiar with some figures of German philosophers, who do you like most? Could you tell me their names? As far as I know, there are three predominant philosophy figures in ancient greek. Do you like the philosophy father Socrates? And I also heard that in philosophy we are ever close to the truth, but never reach it, because what we know about the world and ourselves are all subjective, which are subject to my experience.

Well, I think there’s some problems to define what kind of things are useful. Do mean you that if the things turn out to be very helpful in your success, those things are useful? If one spends a lot of time in learning, I think a lot of reasonable guys will say it will turn out to be fruitful. And I admit that there are a lot of schools of philosophy make illusions, and it results that we could be better off without them, but they are contributing to the prosperity of our academical achievements, I mean they are maybe wrong in some points, but they are making process in the philosophy world. And what’s more, have you heard one of schools of philosophy so-called a realist school, perhaps you will feel some sympathy with them. And still one thing, those theories, which may seem sheer nonsense to you, are based on experience. And I heard a lot of realists turn to the paper when they meet the problems in their real lives.

As regarding to British philosophy, I prefer David Hume to Bacon, for one of his arguments I find very agreeable, that is “passion is, and ought to be, the slave to reason”(I couldn’t remember his exact sentence), and as to Bacon, I read some of his essays on various things, like study, marriage, travel and so on, but his language is somehow different from modern English, some even inaccessible to me. Schopenhauer’s philosophy is pessimistic at the core, but he’s the first one who made philosophy into psychological observation, was also the teacher of the great philosopher Nietzsche in some sense, though in his later period Nietzsche was the one who criticized his teacher recklessly . The style of Nietzsche’s maxims is very impressive, which could be expressed in his own words ”I write with the strongest hammer and the delicatest figures”

There are some points I don’t quite agree with you. First of all, the thoughts or conclusions are based on experience rather than on logic, and in some level, experience equals reality. And if those conclusions are contrary to the reality, those will be threw over and another new theory will set up and that is the process of all sciences, if philosophy could be called science. And secondly, the philosophical articles are written in all seriousness, rather than just for fun, although some people may find some conclusions funny and naïve , like in the ancient greek, some scholar argued that the son are made from a big fire ball. And what I’m trying to convey just now is the theory and the reality should be opposite to each other, but rather are compatible with each other, do you agree with that?

Most of all, Nietzsche is one figure of optimistic rather than pessimistic, and as a matter of fact, he hated Schopenhauer’s pessimistic theory in his later period. I also found Freud’s theories very interesting, especially when he argued something about the human behaviours. And I found what you said in 53th floor a little confusing, since you say you might be a perfectionist, you got to admit there got be something perfect in the world, and why do you exclude the conclusion that an ideal world will exist in the future, though it’s very hard to reach. And when Nietzsche says I’m the sun, I think he means he’s most powerful and generous, or something like that.So much for this tonight, I got something important to do. bye,See you next time.

One of the main functions of philosophy is to make the world a better place, like all sciences. Maybe Humans behaviors couldn’t be totally under control in any time, in any place, due to the unpredictable and inherited humans nature, but they will appear more controllable if we set up to study them, as we did it. For example, I wanted to talk to you in English, and I succeeded in it by putting up this post. Of course, I had no intention to “force”you to talk. Philosophy couldn’t surpass the reality, and indeed no subject up to now could do something like surpassing the reality. It’s ridiculous to say the world has been driven by the philosophy, nevertheless, no less ridiculous to assert that the world has been driven by revolutionists. As a matter of fact, the philosophy did have a great impact upon the whole world. Just take the French Revolution for example. Rousseau’s ideas inspired many revolutionists (actionists) to fight for freedom, human rights and equality, and some even go to the extreme to say that if there’s no Rousseau, there’s no French Revolution. So even actionists consider the theories on paper as something real and useful.Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Freud have one thing in common, that is, they all put a greater value upon individual human beings rather than a cooperation of a group people.By the way, are you interested in English literature( mainly British )?

If the disasters ever happened in the world, I don’t think the philosophy was only the one to be blamed, for many revolutions could end in disaster if leaded through the wrong direction. When I say “English literature”, I mainly mean “belles letters”, like poetry, drama, or something like that. I read these stuffs not because they are useful or helpful when I find myself with the problems, but rather simply because I find a great pleasure in reading them. Maybe the language style is something different from modern standard language, but I find it very sweet by enjoying the beauty of the English language. Just like today’s music, I don’t expect anything useful after listening to it, but simply because I like what I feel when I’m listening to it.
