Indeed,dorgon is a historical figure fullof mystory and legend.All history scholars regard him as Manchu Hero with exceptionaltalent in both military and politics.

Talking about Dorgon's genius formilitary and politics ,here isthe fact when he occupied Beijing,Qing army was composed by 130,000soilders,only about 50,000 wereManchu soilders.Of course,he alsohad the army of Wu sangui about50,000.On his opposing side,therewere nearly 3 million soidersled by South Ming and serval farmer leaders.In a few yeaws,Dorgon occupied almost entiremainland China.We could notdeny it is a miracle.

As to Dorgon's tragedy ending after his death,I think hisfate was doomed when he waivedhis right to the throne andchoose to act as regent,nomatter how he treated hisnephew.There are too manystorys in Chinese historytell us that no King wouldtolerate such a person likeDorgon who actually createda new dynasty and ruledthis great empire for sevenyears.

At least one of reasons why Dorgon did not claimthe throne and got rid ofShun zhi,which acceptedby all history scholars,is that he did not want tocause any disturbanceof Manchu ,which definitelywould delay or obstructthe unification of China.Dorgon's such behaviour,which was very rare inChinese history,shows hisgreatness and unselfish.While he had strong (allheros are ambitious),he always had the cardinalprinciples in mind andwas able to take the overallsituation into account.
