"Most of my students, who are of Chinese origin, have seen 3 Idiots," says Lucy

Striking the right chord, Ma Yue, an editor with Shanghai Daily says, "I like the film. Rancho is a unique student, different from others. He dares to disobey unreasonable school principles and challenge authorities." She admires his independent mind, which is what a lot of Chinese students who have grown up in an exam-oriented education system also adore. "Rancho is smart and has his own definition of success," Ma adds.

"It's relaxing, funny, makes you cry while showing the positive side of life. It talked about dreams and career. To do what one feels like to do is the best achievement, Sky adds.

The super hit success of 3 Idiots across China is the reaction of a society that is dealing with the pressures of performance stemming from the one-child policy, an education system that favours learning by rote and a Confucian belief that every child is the same and will therefore excel equally. Like in India, China's education system doesn't seek to treasure or cultivate the hidden talents of its myriad children , which is the crux of 3 Idiots .

All Izz Well is the most popular Bollywood song in China after Raj Kapoor's Aawara Hoon. In Hong Kong, 3 Idiots grossed Rs 90 lakh in the first two weeks and has collected Rs 5.9 cr by the end of the sixth week. In Mainland China, although 3 Idiots hasn't been officially released, word of mouth has made it the highest selling Bollywood film in the illegal market, where the film is subtitled in Mandarin
and Cantonese. Estimates suggest over 1.3 lakh Chinese have watched the film, with many of them having seen it multiple times.

几年前看过，带给自己的感触特别大。今年终于可以带着班级的学生一起看了一次，虽然因为设备的原因后面不太顺利，但是，还是有一半以上的学生大呼“这位大叔太帅了”，“这部影片真好看”。希望能有机会带学生看“地球上的星星”。
