I am from Houston and big Rockets fan and you certainly don't talk for me. I and many here in Houston don't have high unrealistic expectations from the Rockets or Lin. We are expecting a tough year and even two. We do hope for a solid play from Lin and the team.
If they even get a .500 record will be a peasant surprise as that means the young talent stepped it up. I expect an entertaining team and know that some nights will be hard to watch and just hope they bounce back from the bad games.
Lin got his contract because he displayed he is a winner and a winner is hard to find. He also showed leadership qualities. He showed he can play among the elite. He also showed a modesty that few have. He also showed he is a good role model. All of these things all wrapped up into one person is very rare and makes his contract an actual steal.
We are blessed to have this athlete on our team representing our city.
我来自休斯敦，也是火箭铁杆球迷，你肯定是不能代表我说话的。我和很多休斯敦球迷都不会有对林不切实际的期待。我们知道我们将面对艰难的一两年，我们当然希望林和他的队伍能有扎实的成绩。

A lot of people said Lin's 2011-2012 season cannot be taken seriously because he only play couple of good games. But if you research his past history, you will noticed he was made captain as both his High School, and College basketball team. And both team has the best result in their team history when Lin was the captain. That may not proof Lin to be great basketball player, but that at least tell you he is a team player. Linsanity was all about how an average/unknown player made a lot of Knick's bench into superstars when the NYK superstars was not available. Hopefully this will also be the case in Houston. Imagine what will happen if Houston some how made it into the playoff next season. It is a big expectation, but it will also be fun to watch.

Please get the facts straight: It is a three years contract not four years and it is not an expensive contract considering Jeremy Lin's status.
No matter what, Jeremy Lin will be under immense pressure after he took NBA and Sports world by storm last season. People will expect and would like to see Linsanity coming alive again. Thanks God that Jeremy Lin is a guy who can handle the pressure properly.
In the contrary with your opinion, being Rockets first option will have a good effect on Jeremy Lin. As we all witnessed that Jeremy Lin did have trouble dealing with Knicks forced first and second options after Amar,especially Melo came back in lineup, because it causes him having hesitation and limit his creativity. Of course, Knicks new head coach's mistrust also partially contributed his struggle in Knicks.
Anyways, options supposed to be open and are subjected to change from game to game. And it should be based on situations and not a tool to please "Super Stars", that is team sport all about.

You obviously never saw Linsanity. Jeremy was basically a rookie in NYC and had no problem taking that shot in Toronto. He was the first option during the entire best part of the Linsanity run. Most of it is on Youtube. Have a look.

Don't forget he also had the pressure of leading his high school into a championship, getting into and studying in Harvard, leading Harvard to its best record ever, taking on the #1 draft pick John Wall, pressure of getting cut from his home team and helping D-League Reno Bighorn D-League into many wins(with Danny Green and Novak), pressure of almost getting cut from the NBA in a week and playing the best game of his life. I think he's ALWAYS been in high end pressure situations all his life so in reality this would be less pressure where he knows he's going to be an NBA player for the next 3 years and can play and study the game and became even better.
别忘了他曾在压力下带领高中球队得到州冠军，进入哈佛，带领哈佛球队打出最好成绩，对阵选秀状元冏强，被球队下放的压力下带领发展联盟球队赢很多场球，在还有一个星期就要被裁的压力下打出最精彩的比赛。我觉得他这辈子一直都是出于各种压力下，相对来说，他拿着3年的合约，不用为将来去哪里打球操心，他可以打球，可以进步，压力反而小呢。

Really can't wait for the season to start! Though I am from NY, I will definitely get NBA league pass this season. It is such thrill to watch Jeremy Lin play.

I would argue the opposite actually. Houston is going to be a bad team next year no matter what so there are no high expectations for them. Lin will have time to develop along with the rest of those Rockets draftees with no pressure of trying t save a franchise. Also Lin's contract wouldn't put any immediate pressure on him at all since the first 2 years he is only getting paid about $5M.
I don't think any rational Rockets fan really thinks Lin is somehow going to make them a great team. In fact they would want the team to be bad so they can get some better draft picks. The Rockets have been stuck in basketball hell for awhile now (just making/missing the playoffs but being better than a lottery team). Missing out on D12, Dragic and losing Scola means the only logical direction is to rebuild.

It's going to be tough for sure, but I don't think pressure will be a problem for JLin. He has always exceeded people's expectation throughout his basketball career, and he has shown unusual leadership quality during that short span of Linsanity. I am not a melo-hater, but I think the mistake the Knicks made was to confuse leader with leading scorer. The Knicks might have to pay for that mistake in the coming seasons, and the Rockets might have unexpected gains because they put JLin as the leader of the team.
当然会困难，不过我不觉得压力对林来说是问题。他一向都超出人们的预期， 而且显现了他的领导才能。 我不是瓜黑， 不过我觉得尼克犯了个错误，就是把球队的领袖和第一得分手搞混了。尼克会为了这个混淆概念而吃亏的，而火箭会有意外惊喜，因为他们把林放在球队的领袖的地位上。
