How many roads must a man walk downBefore they call him a manHow many seas must a white dove sailBefore she sleeps in the sandHow many times must the cannonballs flyBefore they are forever bannedThe answer, my friend, is blowing in the windThe answer is blowing in the wind ……Maybe this song is not the most adequate one to pick for what I want to express here. As one of the most famous country music of the 60’s and written by Bob Dylan, an interesting composer who could NOT really sing his own songs, it pictured how ignorance and privilege of certain classes could never stop the war but rather made it lasting.People are still using it, as does Tom Hanks in
. So do I. For the past several days, whenever I thought about Yaoming, about the Rockets, I found that, pleasantly surprised, the rhythm’s just on my tongue. But I don’t want to talk about Yao or his team too much this time, but rather about several of my hobbies. It’s rather a ‘private’ essay and I choose to use English only because then I don’t have to pay too much attention to metaphor or modification. If grammar is ok, I’m fine with it. Hope you find it well too. I never thought I’m a man of sports-style although I have nearly all my hobbies related with sports. Sometimes I can’t help thinking about a ‘silly’ topic: the meaningfulness of life. To me it’s not new but I can never really find an answer to it. Or it’s not a question at all? Maybe people need only think about it now and then but are not obliged to get an answer. God smiles. So I just call a halt to it and enjoy the life itself. Or, to enjoy sports. But why does sports could bring me so much fun?I watch F1. I’m a Schumi fans who has been loving him for so long a time. It’s about champion, glory, braveness and perfection for all the time. Maybe that’s the reason why I can’t tolerate the poor performance of Bridgestone, F2005 and the celebration of Alonso each time last year. I begin to hate everyone who threats his success and champion, and especially dislike Alonso because of his arrogance shown everywhere.Yeah I begin to worry about the future when once Schumi retires. Will F1 still interests me after his leaving? Where does the enthusiasm come from? For most people who’re not fond of the race, F1 is nothing but a dozen of weird-looking race cars torment people’s hearing. It’s quite the same to me too, if MS is not there. I don’t feel shamed though. Not all fans are fans of the sports itself, but rather one of the hero is the best reason for people to love him, and therefore to love the sports.Basketball is somehow similar to F1. I had 4 years in Germany without NBA as MJ has left. Then in the States Yao brought me back. I can’t tell whether I love the sports first or rather MJ and Yao help me to fall in love with it. To me, they might present the sports itself.Badminton is ok, I mean I don’t need an idol as I play it by myself and I get a lot of fun by purely watching people (no matter who they are, as long as they play well) playing on the court. Seemingly I make myself an idol to me.Now come back to the topic. I think after talking all the above, it becomes clear to me that sports represent a kind of concentration and imagination: I kept myself concentrated in it and forget anything miserable. I imagined how if I were MJ on court or MS on the circuit. That’s a great feeling. Now I think I get it. It’s not a tough question. The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind.
