Not content, however, with merely having been there and done that, Mui has a restless creativity that won’t let her stay stuck in the mainstream. “What I want to do most now is to make a musical because the entertainment industry – especially live concerts – is getting to be too much of the same thing, too common,” the 37-year-old pop diva says. “The culture of the musical has not really been passed on to Hong Kong people. I hope I can get audiences to appreciate and welcome this art form until it too becomes more accepted, “ Mui says, her expression hidden behind the reflective barrier of her sunglasses. She has some ideas for a musical, which she prefers to keep to herself for the moment. But Mui has found some investors and is hunting for scriptwriters. “I’m serious about this. I really hope it will happen, but it’s just in the very initial stages right now, “ she says. “I’ve done film and music for so long that I want to combine both loves in a musical, “ Hong Kong’s top female entertainer says, looking for the next challenge. “I’m just waiting for the right time.”
