采访,来了解霍霍的时间表 Sports must be fun or it'll be hard HOW does Pieter Van den Hoogenband beat others at the Olympics with his training schedule and how he achieves balance in his life?In this interview, he talks about how he trains, and what he does when he's not training. He also talks about his interests in music.HIS TRAININGI will not change that much because I was in top form in Sydney and everything went well, and I notice that I get stronger by the year.The way I train is the most successful for me, so I should not change that too much. I know from experience how to get into top form. And I made sure I got in the best form possible in Athens.You should always be confident, otherwise you should not be going in the first place. I am not saying it was easy because of the great competition but I think I had a good chance to win.HIS TYPICAL TRAINING DAYLet's start with a normal Monday. I get up around 7.15am, get my gear, get ready to go, eat a banana on my way over to the swimming pool.Then I'll swim from 8am till 10am. Take a shower, get dressed and get home about 10.30am. Eat and read the papers for an hour.Noon is resting time till 2pm. After that, it's time for physiotherapy and personal care.Then at 2.15pm, I have power training till 5pm. From then till 7pm, another swimming session.Home at about 7.30pm, eat and then, after a hard day, it's over at 8.30pm and then to bed.I know from experience that you need to take your rest once in a while, and when I feel time to do that, I will.Even in the pre-Olympic season, I will take a week's rest and do absolutely nothing, so I can appear fresh for the last training stage.To keep the pleasure in the sport, you should be surrounded by a nice group of friends and family who will support you in what you do and make sure you live a nice life.Above all, it needs to be fun, otherwise it's hard to do.LIFE AS A CHAMPIONAs a champion, my life changed after the Olympics.I myself haven't changed much. Circumstances changed, people around you look at you differently. But I know how to deal with it now.During the Olympics, the first week is usually the swimming tournament and the second week, we have time off to do whatever we want to do, to look at other sports events, for example.While I was in Sydney, I received an invitation to go to Hamilton Island for a couple of days to enjoy the nature, which we did and it was an unforgettable experience.We stayed at a fantastic hotel where the rooms had balconies with bubble bath, our own barbecue, and a helicopter trip to Reef World, where we swam with fish.A certain Bill Gates paid us a lunch visit one day. After that, it was back to the hotel for more food, then we went out to this club and invited everybody back to my hotel room to have a party.We bought all the Dutch beer and spirits from the hotel, loaded that onto a golf cart and went with all these people back to the room for a great party.And when I stood there as Olympic champion, I had it just the way I wanted: All the people celebrating the fact that I was an Olympic champion.OTHER SPORTING INTERESTSYes, I have done a lot of other sports, like football, hockey, judo and tennis. And every year, I like to go skiing.During power training, we do a lot power exercises, of course, and some cycling and running. But I am at my best when I swim.OTHER INTERESTSI like to listen and relax to good music, such as Pearl Jam, but there are other good bands that I like, including Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and White Stripes.But I also enjoy catching a movie or going on holiday lying on the beach - I love the sound of the sea in the background - and reading a good book.
