DICE对于镜之边缘MOD的看法? 在OME上找到了些东西 Dice on modding problems To the awesome modders of Mirror’s edge We’ve reviewed the issues that have come up with creating custom time trial maps for Mirror’s Edge, and what we might be able to do to address them. We’re absolutely thrilled with the amount of interest shown in our game and impressed with the creativity and effort you’ve shown. Unfortunately, when we created mirror’s edge we had to make some tough decisions to get it done on quality and on time. One of those was to not go ahead and make an editor available for the game. There are some licensing issues surrounding an editor release but more importantly at the time it would have just taken too much focus away from creating the main game. It took a lot of time and effort to create Mirror’s Edge and nail the first person movement so we just didn’t have the resources to make our editor ready for end users, with all that entails in terms of support and cost. We’ve looked over the issues that have been presented in the forums, and tried to find solutions for them that would not entail distributing files or content we do not have the right to give out. Unfortunately we haven’t found a way to accomplish this. The specific issues we took a look at were: 1. The inability to make the game load custom maps. To make this happen, with the way our loading and UI works, the user would have to edit the menus manually, which comes back to us not being able to provide a custom editor. 2. Not being able to move or change times and checkpoints for time trial maps. Again, since the data is cooked it can’t be opened, even in the community custom editor. The uncooked data cannot be distributed so we can’t fix this. 3. Some people are unable to play for more than a little while in a custom map before they inexplicably die. This is related to our tamper-prevention and anti-cheating code. I’m afraid we can’t help users to circumvent this even for such a good cause as creating custom maps. 4. Low mipmap levels and blurry objects. We don’t exactly know why this would happen, except for the fact that our editor bakes things in a particular way that other versions of the editor might not. As we’ve now moved on from the ME project, and don’t have a dice-internal dev-team to support the game (although EA of course has full support for it) this is the exact type of issue we don’t have the resources to look into anymore. I’m sure that as one such thing is fixed another will crop up, and inevitably we will run into something that we cannot fix due to the above mentioned facts, and everyone would be disappointed. So, in summary, we’re as big fans of your work on this game as you are of the game itself, but we find ourselves in a situation where a combination of factors prevent us from being able to help you fix these problems. We’re really sorry for the bad news. Yours truly from the ME team.
