DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU ARE NOT IN A MOOD OF TOK. Human, the supreme creature created by God, or the statistical result of random atomic collision that evolutes into intelligence? Why was it so important during the Middle Ages or still now, that human has to be the superior of all, that human has to be the image of God? Why can we just accept that we are no better than any other life forms, that we are not design to be like this, that we only just emerged by chance? It is comforting to hear that we are here in this universe for a special purpose, that we are made in the way to be superior and control our environment, that we are in fact the children of God. But, is there a God nor not? So let' s assume of a minute that God does not exist. One famous quote says: It God did not create man in his own image, on the contrary, man created God in his own image. Why do we have to create God in our own image? The simplest answer is: to make us feel important about ourselves. When someone confront us with the shocking news that we are not as important as we think and we are not the central of the universe, what did we do, we burned those people. That was the good old times, so what about now? Do we still cling to the belief that we are more important than others? The answer is: of course we do. There is not much of this joined human self-importance anymore, but a more individual self-importance. When people are trying to be unique and different, doesn't it give a boost to self-importance and ego, to think that they are one of a kind. The sarcastic thing is that since so many people tries to be different, being difference becomes normal. Not to mention, since when did being ordinary become the same as being boring? How many people actually want an ordinary life now? Most are focusing on all these glamorous, rich, exciting life, and sincerely believe that they can achieve it. Honestly, how many people achieve that state in their life? Is that life really as good as it appears to be? We kept believing in it, because we think we deserve that life, we think we are important. After criticising our own self- importance, one question remains: is it really that bad? On an evolutionary scale, we are more advanced than all other creature. Believing we are the best creation of God does give some people a purpose in life. Believing we are better makes us to strive to be better, and by some random chance, we might eventually achieve our goal. Self-importance might not be that bad after all, or are we denying the truth right now?inspired by our TOK class today. I pity mankind, we tends to think we are more important than we really are. Why can't we just realise the truth.

Questions I found these questions in a American professor's blog, these are the some questions his Chinese students asked him. I would like the answers to them. I am not trying to be anti-anything, but to be critical. –“Why do you call it ‘owning a house’ in America if the government can take it away from you if you do not pay your taxes? Isn’t that just renting a house?”–“If America has a One America Policy, one that you fought a civil war about, and Canada has a One Canada Policy, and Britain has a One Britain Policy, why can’t China have a One China Policy?”–“Why are there more black people in combat and prison per-capita than white people?”–“ Why does America call actions ”oppression” except when it is companies like Microsoft helping censor words like “democracy” on our blogs?”–“Why does the U.S. kidnap people it wants from other democratic countries?”–“Why does America punish other nations that support terrorism while allowing WWII Japanese war criminals, that killed thousands of Chinese, to visit the U.S. anytime they wish?”–“Why doesn’t the U.S. want China to increase spending for its military defense? Japan and the U.S. spend more money, per person, than any of the other nations in the world don’t they?”–“Why isn’t the government taking economic action against Mexico and Japan for their trade deficits with the U.S.?”–“What is the difference between ‘spin’ and ‘propaganda?’”–“What is the difference between ‘communist incursion’ and ‘democratic liberation?’”–“Why does your government allow farmers to feed antibiotics to your cows and chickens? Hasn’t it caused deaths in your hospitals from infection to double? Why does your press say we are a danger to the world because our farmers are using a flu medicine to treat sick chickens but you do it all the time?”-“Does the world press remind your country yearly about the time its Army killed students protesting the government?”–“If the U.S. government puts a higher tax on Chinese products won’t the trade deficit just go up with Mexico?”–“Why did Clinton allow 1,000,000 people to be massacred in Rwanda? Is it because they don’t have diamonds or oil?”–“Why does your government say we have to keep and feed North Koreans who sneak across the Chinese border but you send back or jail Mexicans when you don’t need them for cheap labor?”–“Why do Americans make fun of Chinese-English when they can’t speak any Chinese?”if you have some ideas about it, just say :)
