我作业,谁有兴趣改一下 The significant item I bought here today is this fan, it belonged to my grandfather, who's still alive. He had given it to me when me and my family came to Australia a while ago as a gift. My grandpa bought this as a double sided white fan, then he wrote Chinese calligraphy on it as a blessing. This side is 清风徐来, means may the wind be with you, and other side has one poem and one song of some sort, which I have no idea what’s it about. The poem is about "home". I think he wrote that so I can always remember him and my home.My grandfather is a great person, even though he can't do as much things as he could he was younger. He was an university student, which was great for his time, after school he took the job as a tour guide to expand his knowledge and experience. I would say he's good natured but sometimes bad tempered if he was stopped in the middle of a something. Now he's staying Melbourne for a month. He loves Peking Opera with his life and soul, he's devoted into it and combined his soul with it. Everyday he enjoyed watching one or more of the CD he brought with him when he came here, maybe to refresh his mind or keep in touch with the Chinese culture, i don't know, but it's certainly an influence on me, i begin to hate it even more since it was so loud and repetitive a way.I have to say my grandfather is a bit deaf, that's why every time he watches Peking Opera I have to close the door. Everything you say to him needed to use shout, even if we are in the same room, and the result was my throat hurts. However i guess the good thing was that I voice is louder now as a result of constant shouting. When I was much younger, I used to stay at grandparents' house for weekend, they always cook very nice dishes of Chinese food. Besides the food, the best part of the time was to listen to my grandpa telling bedtime stories. Either they are from his experience as a tour guide or the stories he had seen from the Peking Opera. Whenever I wanted to hear a story from him, he would show a sneaky grin, maybe because he's got an audience. He would start quietly, just to get my full concentration and later easier to lure me into his story. His words were clear, his face were brightened and his eyes sparkled with excitement. He would smile, laugh, and other expressions as the story goes on. When the story reaches its climate, he would forget about the little audience in front of him and start singing bits and pieces of Peking Opera. He was a good story teller, and I was a good listener, so the old and young, both enjoyed this little time we had together. It was hard to resist, like an invisible charm bond me and his stories. I guess I should be grateful that he's still here living with us, unfortunately the fan is a bit worn out, but the memories will stay there forever and always be part of me.
