these days 是个常态，我们使用these days时的时态用一般现在时态。
Another tip：不要以为最近就是recently.中文最近可以表将来，如我最近要去德黑兰，这个‘最近’切切不可用recently （指最近已经发生的事情）。

"These days" are considered the broad present in the way that "now" (unmodified), or "nowadays" are. You can't use the pres. perfect or past with these.

Many native English speakers   would use <What do you do these days?>; <What have you done these days?> or <What were you doing these days?>.  

1: I didn't see Nick these days.
2: Don't you know? He's in England now.
- Why don't we say "I haven't seen Nick these days" instead of "I didn't see Nick these days."?

We don't say either. "I didn't see Nick these days" is incorrect. You need to say "I don't see Nick these days" because it's present tense. "I haven't seen Nick" is past tense ("these days" is present tense).

I've got a question concerning the tense you would use in the context of "these days".
Would you say "how have you been these days?" or "How are you these days"?
I'd rather use the first one, as "these days" refer to a period spanning from the past to the present. But you never know, so I prefer asking you!

I'd say, "how have you been lately?" and "how are you these days?" because "these days" are not over yet, i.e have not finished (use of present tense). "Lately", on the other hand, is a period up till now but which has now finished.

I'm afraid neither sounds correct to me.
With "these days", we use things like "I don't see you much these days". "These days" is at this time; now and in the recent past. As a result, we use the present tense.
Also, you wouldn't use "during" or "for" with "these days".

For me, the first one is a question about habit -- the person used to go to that bar and you're wondering if he ever goes (even once -- that's what the "ever" is about) these days.
The second one is not about habit -- it's just a straightforward question: Have you been recently?
