So, nick and I have just finished up what I THINK is the third writing trip for the next record, in sweet Maine. We held ourselves in a cabin in the woods in some pioneer town that looks untouched since John Smith was courting Pokahontas (phonetic spelling). I think the vibe of this record is pretty all over the place so far, being a collection of misplaced thoughts and word pictures that battle addictions, desire, lust, and loss. The spectrum is really what we are painting for this record and weilding a brush this time seems to be an interesting task. I've never been lost on my journey but now I have thrown away the compass and killed the guide. Not in a negetive way of course, but in a way that a kid that loses their parent in a mall really isn't lost persay...Nick has been a patient partner as always, the yang of a saint to my ting of the devil (not evil devil, just manic).. Leaves in Maine turn from green to red to yellow to the earth in a two week period. It's been such a beautiful show. Like watching a firework that takes two weeks to finish dragging it's light over the ground. Even after a nights rest we'd wake up to the vivid stain-glass that ol' mother nature would put up in her treetop chapel. Amen...... We really had a great purge of music up there. There's this one song called 'kids in the street' that makes feel yesterday today. It's about capturing the memory of what it was like when we were running around in Oklahoma not knowing to care about how simple-sweet our lives were. I still go there sometimes... In the van that wed take down a dirt road nowhere,no care, just there. Sonic Drinks in our skinny laps and a hazy head full of dreams and nothing. Here's to that.
Your buddy,
Ty
