Have you ever said to yourself, “Man....I wonder if it's possible for someone to do a metal CD that isn't weird, annoying, crazy, and hard to listen to?” Yeah, I really haven't done that either, but it WAS a good opening to this review so I can say that this AMAZING album is quite possibly the easiest CD to listen to...in the world, especially the easiest metal CD to listen to...metal that is gentle on your ears. Very fun indeed.This album starts off with a song called “buried alive by love," which is heavy and melodic. Probably one of the heavier songs on the whole disc, it's a very good song to introduce you to the rest of the CD and sets the mood very well. The songs starts off with a catchy little guitar part that draws you in immediately, and then Ville Villa starts off by almost whispering “Again the burden of losing rests upon my shoulders” and then sings the rest of the verse softly...and then the song swells right before the chorus, almost teasing you because you know it's coming. And then it comes, the massive rock out part where Ville almost yells “If I should die before I wake, I pray no one my soul to take, and if I wake before I die rescue me with your smile." This song even has a sweet little guitar solo kind of thing near the end too, something it seems we have forgotten about. Very cool.Ah...and then the next song, my personal favorite, “The Funeral of Hearts.” Ville’s voice is so beautiful in this song as he sings “Love’s the funeral of hearts and an ode for cruelty when angels cry blood on flowers of evil in bloom.” Those are even beautiful lyrics. This is a very well put together song on a very well put together CD. The rest of this album, after hearing the first two tracks, is predictable for a lack of a better term. It is not that all the songs sound the same or resemble each other in any way, but this whole CD has the same vibe all the way through. All the songs, which are little works of art, come together to form one big masterpiece. Even though I am pretty much completely sold on this album, I have to say that it is, however, a step down from HIM’s earlier album, Razorblade Romance. Don’t let that bother you though. This band could be only half as bad ass as they are and still be amazing, so it's not a big deal that it's not the best HIM CD.Once again, I love this album. I love Ville’s voice, the melodic, masterful music, man, I even liked the keyboards in this CD. The only thing that might get on my nerves sometimes about this CD is that all the songs have the same flow and vibe, as I said earlier. I like surprises, ya know? Other than that, this disc is amazing and I recommend this to ANYONE who likes music at all. I am not really sure if they print this CD in America because some HIM CD’s you have to buy as imports...and I got mine from England. But hey, if you have to pay some extra cash for an import at Best Buy, Amazon or something, it is very much worth it, trust me. You guys will love this one.
