Over the past few months there has been so much speculation and daily updates surrounding Pete Wentz’s new band, The Black Cards, that everytime we get to hear new music from the group it feels like a long overdue treat. So it was a nice surprise today when the band, fronted by Wentz and vocalist Bebe Rexha, dropped their second track, the Robert Louis Stevenson title-toasting track, “Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Fame,” (Stevenson’s a crazy good author for those not familiar) on their Myspace page which you can check out here(http://www.myspace.com/blackcardsmusic).
The danceclub-style cut, which you can also download for free, hears Rexha letting out some syrupy Gaga-style vocals, while singing about “missing America” and the UK. If you are a Fall Out Boy fanatic, we’ll just give you the heads up—this is completely new territory for Wentz, so consider yourself warned. Much like the band’s first track, “Club Called Heaven,” “Jekyl” is a bouncy synth-driven number and we’re guessing it was written with pop-radio spins in mind.
Whether or not you’re a fan of the dude’s new sound, you gotta give Wentz credit for expanding his musical horizons. Take a listen. You dig?
