We kick-start this years list with a face you may be all too familiar with. Annie here hails from a very musical background and has a history with one of the most brutally Metal of instruments – the Oboe, which her mother insisted she learn. She first tasted success when she joined the band ‘Alysson Avenue’ (we haven’t heard of them either), initially as a studio-singer. She is now a leading lady of the genre after gaining infamy after replacing Tarja Turunen (who’s also pretty hot) as the front-woman of Nightwish. Her first album with the band ‘Dark Passion Play’ was met with world-wide acclaim, reaching number-one in charts across Europe and being awarded double-Platinum status in Finland.

9.Cristina Scabbia

After exploding on to the Metal scene with her band ‘Maroon 5’ (like you don’t know her band), Cristina has dominated the fantasies of every (well mostly-teen) Metalhead. ‘Lacuna Coil’ started out as a past-time when it was “too cold to skate” (says front-man Andrea Ferro), a past-time that eventually snowballed to form one of the most significant bands in the recent history of Metal. Their album ‘Karmacode’ reached the Top-40 in US sales. Their popular single ‘Our Truth’ was also featured in the blockbuster sequel ‘Underworld: Evolution’ and they are now considered the premiere act of the Gothic genre.

3.Sharon den Adel

Out of all the sweet voices present here, Sharon (in my opinion) takes the cake. Since the ripe old age of thirteen she had been actively involved in performances with various bands and sometime in the 90’s she and her boyfriend founded ‘Within Temptation’ which went on to become one of the most popular bands in the Symphonnic-Metal genre. Their most popular album ‘The Heart of Everything’ was certified Platinum in various European countries and peaked at number-one in the ‘Billboard Top Heatseakers’ (US).

1.Elizabeth ‘Lzzy’ Hale
Last may not be least, but we definitely saved the best for last because Lzzy Hale of Halestorm may be the best thing since sliced bread. She has conquered the hearts (and wet-dreams) of many a Metalhead through the release of Halestorm’s new single ‘I Get Off’Revolver Magazine’. In the lyrics Lzzy speaks of her oh-so kinky fantasies regarding stalkers…no we did not make that up. This chick digs stalkers. Anyhow, Lzzy and her brother ‘whats-his-name’ have been composing original music since she was thirteen. She studied Piano at the age of five, eventually progressing to Keytar and later to Guitar. Halestorm has toured with such artists as ‘Staind’, ‘Theory of a Deadman’ and ‘Megadeth’. Lzzy has also been on the (very lucky) cover of ‘Revolver Magazine’
