Columbus -- This was a big day for big fans of the Big Ten, in particular, the Buckeyes. One of those groups of fans was Rascal Flatts, a country band that formed a decade ago in Columbus.
Saturday, the trio returned home to Ohio Stadium to perform before the OSU-Miami game.
"We sold out Wrigley Field two years ago,” said Gary Levox, lead singer of the band. “It won't compare to the pressure that we're going to feel when we walk up to do the national anthem in front of 105 tonight.”
That’s in front of 105 thousand people.
The three men sang our national song on the anniversary of the day that changed America.
The trio came back to the horseshoe to start one of the most important games of the season for Ohio State.
"It's the first time in the history of Ohio State Football that somebody has actually been allowed to sing the national anthem because the band usually plays it" said Jay Demarcus, bass player for the band.
And so, with 105 thousand looking on in person, and millions watching across the country, Columbus-born Rascal Flatts got to live a dream of their own Saturday.
"We bleed scarlet and grey,” said Levox. “ Ohio State football is the make-up of our character."
