Valencia technical secretary Braulio Vázquez spoke to the Valencian media today after the news broke about the sale of Alexis Ruano to Sevilla for 5 million.

The first topic Braulio talked about was how the transfer of Alexis occurred.

"At around 8:30 at night, Alexis came to our offices, and despite being comfortable with the team and in the city, he said that he wanted to rethink his future. Given his frame of mind, we started looking at all of our options."

Braulio was very blunt, then stating that, "We only want people who want to grow here, and for one reason or another, he wanted out. Then, at one o'clock in the morning, we got an offer from Sevilla, we weighed our options, and we thought that it was best for the player and for us."

Braulio was then asked about any possible replacements for Alexis. He stated that the club had been looking through the market over the last year, and that if they were going to sign somebody, it would have to be a player that is different from what they already have in that position. Though he did imply that the club is in no rush, and that they could wait until January to buy someone. Said Braulio, "What we can't do is rush, we are happy with what we have here, we won't rule out anything, but we won't buy somebody just to buy."

He did however mention that it could be possible that Mehmet Topal or David Albelda could play in defense.

"Albelda has played centrally before, and so has Topal who also played there with Turkey, they can play well there. Maduro can also do very well there, also we have Ricardo Costa, David Navarro, and Dealbert."
