Reasons:
1. IceFrog makes previews about it.
2. 6 new heroes (WATAFAC), i remember only one other version with 6 new heroes.
3. It has many teases, hero sneak-peeks, skill sneak-peeks, item sneak-peeks, aghs for tiny peek.
4. It overhauls the gold system, you don't get a gold system overhaul everyday.
5. "I am still working hard on 6.68. We plan to release a preview video in the near future to showcase some of the new content." - It is possibly made by some of his crew from valve(?).
Why would icefrog make 6.68 so special?
