kitsch，艺术价值的距离
kitsch源于德语，通常被译为媚俗，意指一种次等的，真正艺术所衍生出来的无谓复制品，或是对于受肯定艺术作品毫无价值的仿制。此概念与常被文化偶像在大量生产廉价通俗且缺乏独创性作品刻意使用的元素有所关联，媚俗也被指涉为缺乏美感（无论是不是表现得多愁善感、华丽绚烂、戏剧化或具创造性），制造出具有独创性的姿态，实际上仅透过重复途径与模式追求艺术的表面。过度泛滥的情感也经常与这个词汇相关。
（原文）Kitsch (loanword from German) is a form of art that is considered an inferior, tasteless copy of an extant style of art or a worthless imitation of art of recognized value. The concept is associated with the deliberate use of elements that may be thought of as cultural icons while making cheap mass-produced objects that are unoriginal. Kitsch also refers to the types of art that are aesthetically deficient (whether or not being sentimental, glamorous, theatrical, or creative) and that make creative gestures which merely imitate the superficial appearances of art through repeated conventions and formulae. Excessive sentimentality often is associated with the term.
Kitsch是工业化时代的产物，面对这个新世界与新生事物，有人额手称庆，有人则忿忿不平，但不论是哪一种，都是对未知的茫然和无所适从。人们对伴随工业生产而来的大众文化大加挞伐，当时的代表就是小说，用的就是这个字。
Kitsch一开始来自文化上优位的群体的愤怒和哀叹，当然可以说，这不过是不愿意接受改变的情绪性反应而已。然而不可否认，这个群体经常有很精彩深刻的内容，如果太过现实地嘲弄且舍弃这个字的历史意义。会将婴孩连同洗澡水一起拨掉。
