Unfortunate that Samsonova always seems to be peak when Zheng goes on a run. The match up favours Samsonova's bigger/flatter hitting and the extra margin Zheng puts on her forehand just invites Samsonova to take control of the point and rush Zheng's strokes. Hopefully if they do meet again it will be on a slower surface where Zheng's game is complemented more.
Still, it was a high quality match and much closer than I would have predicted. Samsonova inexplicably went off the rails in the 2nd set and Zheng had the momentum going into the 3rd but she saved the BPs early in the set with some good serves.

Very entertaining match. The more experienced player won, Samsonova just played better on some big points especially early in the third set. Too bad that Qinwen lost but at least she got SE for the Doha tournament where I hope she can play even better to make up for this disappointment
