Adele was quick to praise the United States, but told fans she was glad to be back in the UK. Asked about her new album, the singer claimed that 80s jazz-pop singer Sade could influence her forthcoming material.
"I'm more interested in having a body of work rather than a mish-mash of sounds. I think my first album was a bit of pop, a bit of R&B, a bit of jazz, a bit of wannabe rock and a bit of indie folk. I've been listening to a lot of Sade at the moment. I bought all these amazing iconic albums and I'm trying to work out why they have a sound. I've been listening to a lot of Back to Black too. I want an Adele sound."

As of 27 May 2010 Adele was working on her second album at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California. Rick Rubin is producing the album while Paul Epworth is helping with writing for the project.

“I’m not trying to be clever, or glamorous, or fit in with something else that’s going on that’s big at the moment,” she said in an interview with Spin.com, “I just want to make good songs.”
The London native says her expanding sound includes the influence of artists and genres she discovered while touring the United States following the massive success of her debut album. “I got into Alison Krauss after the Rising Sand record,” she said. “I really got into country. I think they’re the best songs written, just the emotion and the lyrics, and the way that they sing them.”
Adele, who is working with legendary producer Rick Rubin on the set, says she really wants people to “buy into” her with the album and not just hear the music.
There’s no release date set for Adele’s sophomore album, but it’s expected to come out this fall.

While she was touring North America in support of her Grammy-winning 2008 album, 19, R&B singer Adele says a whole new world of musical inspiration opened up for her after a friend introduced her to a country legend. "I got addicted to this Wanda Jackson hits album," says the singer. "She's so cheeky and so raunchy. She's kind of like the female Elvis: really sexual, not afraid to embarrass herself."
It wasn't just Jackson's music she discovered: Traveling extensively in the South for the first time, she found herself drawn to American country music, in general. ("I never was a fan of it growing up, because we don't really have it in England.") Back home in London last fall, Adele began incorporating those new influences — Jackson, Alison Krauss, Lady Antebellum, in particular — into songs like "Rolling in the Deep," where her voice takes on a hint of Jackson's dirty-blues growl. "I wanted the songs not to have anything glittery or glamorous about them, like an organic tapestry rather than like a Gaga album," says the 21-year-old singer. "I mean, I love Gaga, but I didn't want to get wrapped up in all that European dance music."
Instead, Adele headed west, to Malibu's Shangri La Studios, to work with producer Rick Rubin on her second disc, due out in September.(真的吗?怀疑） "I was expecting it to be really difficult and that I would be quite scared the whole time, being in his company," she says.
