I enjoyed it though.)Also, here's another single review, this one from Lørenskog newspaper Romerikes Blad. Once again, thanks go to Halvard for the translation;Marit Larsen - ‘Don’t save me’ (single, Propeller Recordings/EMI) Here she is, Marit Elisabeth Larsen from Sørlie Terrasse in Lørenskog The first taste of her upcoming album sparkles with fun, good melody lines and energy. In addition, the chorus is just right. Radio stations can all make space for it right away. On Tuesday the single will be in the stores. The album ‘Under the surface’ is released on the 6th of March. If the rest of the songs are of the same calibre as this, 2006 might be Marit Larsens year. ‘Don’t save me’ is more than yet another catchy song with a youthful freshness. The opening immediately brings associations to ABBA; simple, tasty chords that grab a hold of you. There is magic in the art of switching between the major and the 7th, as it’s done here. If you are to create a hit, there has to happen something in the first two or tree seconds. Bjørn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson (of ABBA fame) knew what they were doing when they wrote the intro to ‘Waterloo’. And yes, it sounds like they have been involved on this production too. They have not. The song is produced by Marit herself in cooperation with Kåre Vestrheim and Mike Hartung, the gentlemen behind the great sound of Odd Nordstogas ‘Luring’-album. The final result is an airy and at the same times focused soundscape and lovely instrumentation with keys, guitar, harmonica and clapping of hands. Vocally, Marit Larsen has some of the recklessness and rustic of Alanis Morissette about her, but she also has some of her young girl charm intact. After the split of M2M in the summer of 2002, Marit has mostly been away from the public scene. Meanwhile she has been working on an album , and the expectations have been high. On the cd-cover she is pictured, for some reason, as a Lolita with cast down eyes. That is not necessary. ‘Don’t save me’ promises well for the little queen of Sørlie Terrasse. - Michael

Way too much Marit info to take in. Posted on 5/1/2006 by TalkieToaster. Hey M2M Fans,The following is a single review, translated by Halvard, and as posted on Marit's boardMarit Larsen, 'Don't save me' (single), EMIAfter what seems like being fired from M2M because the record company wanted to put all their focus on Marin Raven, this resulted in a national wave of sympathy in Marit Larsens favour. This, in turn, resulted in a lot of buzz regarding her concert appearances at by:Larm last year, and these showed that she is indeed a natural talent. The question left unanswered was: What about her song-writing abilities? 'Don't save me' is a kick in the butt to those who asked that question, because this is song-writing at a high level. Marits first solo single has a sweet-laden sound reminiscent of Abba in the intro, then follows a charming, rough indie-pop part that's filled with vitality, happiness and the sound of sheer joy of music-making. She has grown up in an environment with the music-business around her, but whereas Marion Raven at times sounds like a very expensive marketing-project, there is something wonderfully pure and innocent about this song. This said, it must not be taken for 'amateurish'. Marit Larsen has one of the country's most respected producers behind her, Kåre Vestrheim, who has previously worked with Odd Nordstoga, Gåte and Gluecifer, to name a few. He has given Marit the powerful and chearful sound that she deserves, and after this there are a lot of reasons for putting the X-mark on the date 27th of February, when her album 'Under the surface' is released. There are also unconfirmed reports that Marit's single has begun being played on Norwegian radio.- Michael
