K-pop star BoA would like to worry less about her popularity, the singer has told the Sports Chosun, a Chosun Ilbo subsidiary. In an interview marking the tabloid’s 5,000th edition, she said, "Many people might not realize it, but I have a scar on my forehead that I cover with my hair. In fact, I have a bigger complex about that than about being short." Excerpts follow. Is there any particular article in the Sports Chosun that you remember? No matter what, I think of a recently printed article. Many fans were interested. It said my waist size dropped to 23 inches because I had been dancing a lot. I noticed there was debate on the issue on the Internet. Is there anything you'd like the Sports Chosun to report first? My wedding (laughs). No, I'd like to announce my wedding to the entire media. But as I'm a singer, it would be nice if I saw news every day that my album topped sales. You must have met with many reporters in Korea and Japan. What are the differences between journalists in the two countries? In Japan, I've met mostly with magazine reporters rather than newspaper and broadcast journalists. But there don't seem to be any special differences between the two. It's just that I think I've rarely met a female journalist in Japan. It's been five years since your debut. Does that carry some significance? When I get on stage, I feel my confidence grow. When I give a concert, it's so surprising I wonder where my strength comes from. The stage is really the test ground where my efforts are evaluated. What is the difference between now and when you first went to Japan? There's a lot of differences in the way people treat me, in the waiting room and on stage. At first, I was treated poorly, but since I've been interested in foreign counties since I was young, I think I was able to manage. You've reached the pinnacle of success as a singer. Have you got any worries? Popularity rises and falls quickly. I often think the toughest thing is staying on top. So I'm working hard on trying not to worry about popularity, because if I worry about it, my heart might break. People say popularity is like a bubble.
