Preparations for the busy day begin…
In addition to accounting for the more practical aspects of performing throughout the night (chicken soup, gloves, scarves, extra jackets, and additional handwarmers secured to the insides of said jackets), Leehom is not about to let the process go without a bit of distraction – he uncovers an abandoned water gun in one of the offices which, as we soon find out, functions a little too well…
~15:20~
the Media arrives…
Interviews and photo sessions with various newspapers detailing Leehom’s plans for the night – how he’s preparing for the night (see above), how he’s celebrating (champagne, of course) and how exactly we’re going to be getting from 台中 to 桃园 to 台北 in less than five hours on New Year’s Eve (a miracle).
~16:32~
the Journey begins…
We arrive at the Taipei Main Train Station smoothly –pick up a 便当, shoot a few more pictures, and are soon sitting comfortably on the 高铁 zooming along to 台中. Note: the coffee on the train is particularly good.

桃园!
With the help of the resourcefulness on the part of our driver and the emergency escort once we crossed into the city limits, we arrive on-site in 桃园 with two minutes to go. Leehom cracks a few jokes with cross-dressing hosts on stage (including playing the part of a beauty contestant judge: which guy poses in the best “S” curve?), then performs 改变自己,心跳,and Kiss Goodbye to the cheering crowd.    Another sprint to the car (traffic on the way to 台北 does not bode well for a punctual arrival) and we’re on the road again…

Entering 台北…
Traffic, although still snail-like, allows us into the city relatively on schedule. As we’re escorted through the blocked-off empty streets of Taipei to City Hall, Leehom wishes all radio-listeners a happy new year via HIT FM. We arrive at the stage with enough time for a costume change and brief breather back-stage.
~23:52~
The Countdown…
Leehom enters the stage that has been built in the middle of the street facing the City Hall (the catwalk of the stage literally extends into the intersection that is now filled with tens of thousands of people). Together, the entire crowd counts down the last thirty seconds with everyone on stage, including president 马yingjiu and mayor 郝longbin, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display of Taipei 101, one of Asia’s tallest buildings.

The Concert…
Following the excitement of the fireworks, Leehom’s concert pushes the audiences to even greater heights. Opening with a manga sequence depicting Music-Man’s battles in Taipei, Leehom brings all the charisma and energy of the previous performances and more for the final concert. In addition to his songs,    the show also includes the premiere performance of Leehom’s remix of Teresa Teng’s Smiling Power, Taipei’s theme song for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, accompanied by a hip-hop dance crew and the TVC playing along on the 20-ft LCD screen backdrop.
All in all, a slightly manic, but successful evening and an exciting way to begin the new decade!!
