Behind a white curtain with a light show set to Batman theme music the shadows of the Daughtry members appeared one by one including that of Daughtry's front man Chris Daughtry. As the curtain finally dropped the place erupted into screams as the band attacked the first song, Every Time, with a vengeance. Years removed from American Idol it is apparent that Chris Daughtry has moved past the "bald guy who got kicked off American Idol" to a full blown rock star. Still bald and still sporting intricately groomed facial hair Chris Daughtry has spot on vocals and a larger then life stage presence. A stage presence that seems to let him reach out and touch even the furthest away fan. At one point even telling the crowd "I see you up there" "I love you too" ... the best part, it was obvious he really meant it. Behind the tough rocker you can see there is a genuine kind soul. It's truly refreshing to see the good guy, the family man who frequently Tweets how much he loves and misses his wife and kids, have such success.

Half way through the set the lights lowered and Chris moved the show to end of the catwalk where he joked "Who has the good seats now?" The stripped down set included an exquisite version of "Tennessee Line," which quite possibly may be even better live then on the album, as well 如同 a solid cover of Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight." The acoustic portion of the show concluded with the last track from the "Leave This Town" album, "Call your Name." Just when the crowd thought the song was over the Daughtry namesake was joined by the rest of the band along with a bevy of flames, fire bombs and lights to conclude the song in the same huge fashion as on the album.

The last half of the concert showed that this band can really rock. With heavier tracks "You Don't Belong" and "There and Back" there is no doubt they can keep up with all the other modern rock bands while still remaining in touch with their core female fanbase. Daughtry has found the right balance of radio friendly hits that meet in your face hard rock.
Even though at first glance many may think that a Daughtry concert is a "Chris Daughtry Show," it's not. They are a "band" in every sense of the word. What I find most intriguing is Chris has no problem sharing the spotlight, even welcoming the attention on his bandmates. Josh Steely, Brian Craddock, Josh "JP" Paul and Joey Barnes each bring a unique personality to the mix and not one of them falls into the shadows. I think this winning combination will see this band achieving success similar to those of Bon Jovi and Nickelback. I did find myself trying to find a weakness in this band and the only one a can come up with is I don't think they even realize how good they really are. This is a band on the cusp of something huge.
Daughtry is concluding the first leg of their "Leave this Town" arena tour in Evansville,Indiana on Saturday. The band will then head to New York City to perform at Times Square for "Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve" before they leave for a European tour with Nickelback in January. The band is expected back in the states this spring to continue touring through the summer.
