Michael Zorc: "Both teams took the game very seriously, you could see that. I found it to be a very interesting match. We defended very well, gave away very little and created opportunities from the many times we regained possession. We could've already been leading at the interval. We were just lacking a bit of aggression and the desire to win the ball back. When we did have it, we sometimes lost it too quickly. Nonetheless, we defended very well and countered very well. We noticed during pre-season that some things are working rather well."

Lucien Favre: "We absolutely wanted to win this match. Bayern were very strong and had a lot of possession; 65 percent I think, that's a lot. Nonetheless, we created clear goalscoring chances and defended patiently and very compactly. We performed very, very well."

Sebastian Kehl: "We're obviously delighted, we'll happily take the title. We knew it'd be an explosive encounter, but the win will help us and it will give us more momentum. For the second goal in particular, we counter-attacked extremely well. In such situations, we have great speed at our disposal. The way we saw the move through was very, very good. All in all, we had several goalscoring opportunities, including in the first half. I believe we can leave here satisfied but also with the knowledge that we could've done a few things better. We're now looking forward to the DFB Cup and the enormous challenge that awaits us in the Bundesliga."

Marco Reus: "If things continue like that until the end of the season, I'll take it. It was a good start today. It goes without saying that the match is not a real benchmark for the season. But it was still a spectacular game, we were more effective today and deserved to get the victory too. We were still missing a few of the lads today. We want this high-level competition for places. We have a major objective for this season and we'll only achieve it together. But each one of us still has a lot to learn, especially defensively. We'll need to go about that differently in the coming weeks, but I'm sure we'll get there. We need to work as a collective. The quality is there; we simply need to show it on the pitch each time. Next up for us is the cup tie. I'm delighted that things are now starting to get going again."

Witsel:"Jadon is damned talented,Even Bayern's defenders are scared when he has the ball. But that's normal because Jadon just has a lot of quality. He is fast, technically strong and he can score goals as well as put his team-mates in the spotlight. He is really a complete player."
"We work very hard on defending in training because last season we just conceded too many goals," he added. "Especially with set piece situations we had problems. I think we've already improved because we work on it every day.
"The coach is doing a very good job. We have done well against Bayern. We will do everything to make sure that the title ends up with us in the end.
"It is a relatively large group, but also with a lot of quality. That's why everyone has to go full throttle in training. It's true that we could set up two good teams and I think we missed that last season.
"The competition is good for us all. Everyone has to be careful not to let up, but we can stay fresher that way.
"Sometimes, I don't want to say in easy games, but if you lead maybe 3-0, it is possible to change things earlier and give some players a rest."
