Carlos Marchena revealed at a press conference this morning that Valencia had promised him an improved deal, but that contract talks with the club have yet to take place.

"They promised me a lot of things, that we would talk and come to an agreement, but I am still waiting," he said.

The defender, who signed for Valencia in 2001, confessed that he still has "a big offer" from another club, but reiterated that he will not leave the team this summer.

With regards to the coming season, Marchena believes that this will be a "complicated but beautiful year".
